clearly you havent thought this all the way through. San diego summers are brutal. Youve not tried to live this way I can see plainly.  Youve never had ringworm.  I can see this is a frivolous discussion of mild amusement for you.  For some people, homelessness is an actual option.  People who cannot work shouldnt be made to suffer.  People who can work should help those who cant.  Vanity is the belief that everything revolves around ones own priorities.

Didnt know you were the decider of frivolous matters. Maybe you can go back to your home where its safe and concern yourself with your own vain priorities and desires.

Being homeless is horrible. I was homeless for awhile but with $0 in my account. I also had mental health problems that got me to that point. I would have kept money in my account if it wasn't for the break down.  It still gets down to the 40s in Southern California.  You obviously won't die from that temperature but is still difficult to deal with. I got stuck outside during the winter and it was horrible, probably would have died if it wasn't for the amount of clothing I had on.  With the part about LA giving you $600 a month you may still have to have an I.D. that proves you're from LA to get the benefits.

I would still do everything you can to find a solution to the problem without becoming homeless.  I know you said you don't want to go to a shelter but you still might want to look into it.  The one I stayed at(once I realized there was one) was decent and not filthy.  There was showers and beds with plastic coated mattresses. I was allowed to stay there a year but found a place shortly before my allowed time was up.

A homeless shelter could be a good mid point between affordable housing. My end goal is to gtfo st louis and go some where unfamiliar with better job ops. If the prospect of becoming homeless occurs, im ok with it.

I want to say that the feedback has been very rational to say "dont be homeless dummy get a job bozo" but around here yeah I can only work in food service. Fuck all that. Just to live in an op apartment, awesome life. I could do that anywhere, anyway. 40'F would not kill me.

I think you’re imagining some idyllic situation. When you’re on the street, you can be a victim at any second.
I’ve heard stories of people that have had to sleep in some of these camps that are underneath the overpasses. They say you can hear screams in the middle of the night and there’s nothing you can do about it.
People go missing.
It’s not an option.
Every single thing about it will destroy your humanity.
Do everything you can to not become homeless.

Ask your parents directly for help getting a job. Ask them to get their friends to hook you up with a job. You just need a reference to get a foot in the door.

The idea of homelessness as a type of freedom is quite romantic to some, but the lifestyle can be quite brutal.

I've been homeless.
I didn't like it.

They are supposed to know how may stripes are painted upon the ground, and how many streetlamps, how far apart.  Questions are asked about the number of faucets and toilets, the distance between roofing nails, and what is your use for a garden shed.

Yet planners cannot for the life of them balance remuneration with consumer debt.

I am not scapegoating their constituents, who they have kept like pet hoarders.

But, you're about to get scapegoated.

There are occasional clean outs of encampments, where lots of people you know get disappeared into their choice of crisis housing or jail, either of which will involve some forced labor and control of your movement. Before large weather systems, for your 'safety', or if there will be some social event.

https://sfstandard.com/2023/08/29/gavin-newsom-joins-chorus-of-opposition-to-san-francisco-homeless-sweeps-ban/

In response to a lawsuit filed by a nonprofit called the Coalition on Homelessness, which alleges San Francisco violated federal precedent by clearing homeless encampments without offering shelter, U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna Ryu issued a preliminary ruling in December that restricted the city from enforcing specific laws that prohibit sitting, lying or sleeping on public property. In an appeal, the city asked the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to toss out the injunction.

An attorney for the Coalition on Homelessness acknowledged at an Aug. 23 Ninth Circuit hearing that people who refuse genuine offers of shelter can’t be considered “involuntarily homeless” and are therefore outside of the scope of the injunction.

Some version of a slave catcher or truancy officer is going to use you to fill sweatshop labor positions. Your belongings will not be owned by you, and there will be what I would consider psychological abuse.

I've had FOF's in there and picked up deliveries throughout the Inland Empire.  Like "Grapes of Wrath", just out of eyeshot of mcmansions.

My friend that's staying with me got robbed. And shot at 3 times.
The trauma he experiences is obscene.
Its -6 degrees here -35 wind chill
And he would be sleeping outside if not here

My advice to employed people with houses is not to go out, during these sweeps, without proof of physical address.

None of the stuck up normies realize that they will be under the same scrutiny as you.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugly_law

Some put a lot of effort into not looking homeless.

My friend has a full time job. He tells me stories that are horrible.
He just got a place. Can't move in yet. Soon
Took a very long time.
Alot of violence, sexual crimes, everything stolen. He came to my house shoeless once. They stole his shoes. Anything is taken.
And soooo many being taken. All but one of his friends are missing.

Homelessness is hell. It's easier, better, and less work to just get a job at a fast food joint.

They've wanted to use me as that Bubba guy, on several occasions. This is not a meritocracy or what I would consider to be a free country, where you can wander around like a maroon and throw yourself upon the mercy of strangers.

Think of it as a jumping board.
Once you’re employed, even if it is at a fast food place. You’ve proven that you are employable. Then you can get other jobs.
That’s why they have such a high turnover rate.

A certain amount of subversion is allowed, so long as you are not deemed a threat to yourself or others.

Many people have adjusted by living just barely within the line.

But, any kind of civilization you can create would be an improvement over life as we know it.

There is no reason to wait for teotwaki to rebuild and have a reason to live.

I left my last job without any indication. I just stopped showing up because I hated dishwashing so passionately. I have versions of my resume where I still work there and some with it wiped entirely. I move forward without the experience.

I once tried to give a homeless guy eating strawberries out of the first watch dumpster one of my meals. My co workers found my actions despicable and wouldnt make my food even if it was technically for me.
