Ketamine for depression * 2
    #28619872 - 01/13/24 02:33 PM (14 days, 5 hours ago)

Hi everyone,
I know this may be a weird question, but here it goes. I know I can rely on honesty and experience here.

Two years ago I grew my own mushrooms, B+ strain through PF Tek. It was amazing and my first try I had several good flushes. I dried them and ground then into capsules which I began micro-dosing for depression and anxiety relief. I kept a journal, bought the books, I mean deep dive into the process. But after months of trying different ways of dosing, I concluded that it just wasn't doing anything for me.

I've struggled on and off since then. And last year was agony. My mother and father died 10 months apart, and two of by best friend died of cancer. I am doing all the things. Meditation,
therapy, journalling, treadmill, working on my art. But I can't get out from under the sadness.

I tried Ketamine through a doctors script. They are troches, like square gummies. It works! But my dilemma is that the compounding pharmacy pours the hot liquid into these plastic molds to cool. I don't like this idea. Can't the hot liquid cause the plastic to leach into the troches? I mean, common sense, don't eat hot soup from a plastic container.

Please be kind to me here. I have OCD and this idea scares me. The plastic is not BPA free, it's just cheap plastic, like dollar store plastic.

The only other option is capsules. Can I just open up the capsule and dip my pinky finger into the powder? And just see what dose works. I know I'll probably have to sublingually keep it in my mouth for a few minutes to absorb.

Any experience with this? I could always take a dab of peanut butter and mix it in and lap that in my mouth for a while.

I did this when I tried the Zoloft oral solution liquid. I used a dropper and mixed it in with peanut butter. Sadly, all psych meds make me worse.

Any kind replies would be so appreciated. I'm still teetering mentally. So please be nice.

I think if you spoke your concerns about the plastic containers, they may be able to accomodate you and find glass containers.

Yes.

The question is how much plastic leaches out.
We may breathe in more microplastic from air in a day, than those ketamine doses contain.
Of course, it is wise to avoid ingesting microplastic when and where possible.

You could bring your own molds.
I don’t see any reason why they would stop you.
Then you could choose the shape.
Might be pretty cool. You could get nice silicone or something.

Hope you’re feeling better.

Don't worry about it. Everything else you eat and drink likely contains more microplastic than a K troche

I was going to offer some similar comparative logic.  Ketamine itself is known to be hard on the bladder, sometimes resulting in serious complications.  While I'm no fan of the level of plastic pollution we as humans have bestowed upon our planet, I would suggest that worrying about the potential for some polymer byproduct leaching is the lesser of your concerns.

Best of luck figuring out your mental landscape, and very sorry for the sudden loss of both parents and good friends :heartpump:.

Please remind yourself that we are all only temporary visitors in this space of human consciousness, and parting ways with the world we know as we know it, is an integral part of the deal.  Losing our loved ones along the way, albeit painful, may remind us of the incredible scarcity and limited experience we are so privileged to enjoy, hopefully to encourage and inspire us to make the best use of the time we have, as we can.

I sincerely hope that you find your grounding and enjoy your life, and while I encourage everyone to do their best to affect positive change, I would at the same time encourage you not to sweat too many of the details.

Be well :sunny:

I am prescribed ketamine for severe psychological trauma, for allowing me to sleep, and it has had a positive impact on nurturing my c-ptsd. Of course, you are doing all the right things to start off with, and ketamine may indeed help you

Ketamine can show you everything if you combine it with a psychedelic that'll keep you awake. You will just have your ego dissolved and you will see the most beautiful fractals and patterns, and that could benefit you. Just a thought, I am not suggesting this, I would wait a while on doing that. You're dealing with some pretty bad trauma, and talk therapy, art, journaling, meditation, and maybe some medication either short term, or perhaps long term. Ketamine is a very easy substance to stop using. Whatever it takes to make it easier on you, I condone. I believe you can get through this. It's a lot. I can't even fathom what you are going through...but I would say that you should continue to journal, draw/paint/do art of some kind, write poetry, read books, meditate...anything to pass the time. Time will heal all wounds.

If you take, say, 100-150mg of ketamine a day, you'll see results. I am surprised it isn't prescribed more often

If you get it compounded in capsule form, there is a cutting agent, so it's just best to take orally, or yes, it also works sublingually. It doesn't dissolve well in any drink so if you plan on taking that route, you'll have to drink said drink super fast. Ketamine doesn't taste good. Also pro tip, if you put it in soda, the soda will fizz, a lot, so I would just mix whatever dosage you think you need to take. I dont know the maximum dosage that I can be on ketamine, but 150mg is plenty for most.

Have you talked to your doctor about it? There's an esketamine nasal spray

I will next time I see him, but I don't know if it is used in the same manner. I believe they developed it to be used similarly to IV ketamine treatments due to its quick onset of action. I wouldn't mind taking that route, as I would not have to wait as long, and I always take it before I go to bed, so it will just make going to bed that much easier.

I almost always just open the capsules and pour out maybe 120mg and set the rest of the capsule aside. Dosage varies day to day, but I take about 100mg on average. Some days I take the full 150mg.

I've never tried IV ketamine infusion centers, nor have I inquired about esketamine. I may...have to hold off on asking my doctor about that. He would think I would be abusing. Nah, just more convenient, but I don't want him writing a prescription if he cannot legally do so. The capsules are fine, I usually swish it around in my mouth, my mouth goes numb, then I take a mint and pass out
