I agree.
Fentanyl has well known viable medical applications.
It should not be schedule 1, which will only make it more profitable.

Changing the scheduling of a drug and increasing penalties for the use is already proven by history to not work as a way to decrease use. Rather it results in an increase of black market prices and make it more profitable to sell. It also ends harming addicts, prison doesn't help them. Most addicts who go to prison don't get better in terms of addiction. They get worse.

Making fent schedule 1 will hurt many lives.
But it will not hurt the Cartels, it will increase their profits.

I have this opinion and can think of 6 people I knew and loved who are dead of opiate overdoses, many of them likely related to fent.

In my opinion fent is something that should only be used in a hospital or for the most extreme pain cases. The only reason I say that is starting at the top of the tolerance ladder leaves no room to go up, outside of a medical facility it's also dangerous to accurately dose. Where I think they're going wrong is controlling the rest of the opiates with a closed iron fist. Every single time they make it harder to get vicodin, percs, oxies, hydromorphone it takes people that would've just taken vicodin and has them doing heroin,Fake pressed pills etc all with fent in them. Or it drives them to fent itself just because it's so strong and so cheap. I don't think fent should be schedule 1 but I don't want people to be able to get that one prescribed.

Its quite literally like prohibition with alcohol. Doesn't do anything but cause people to drink bathtub booze and go blind or worse liquor poisoned by the US government.
