Its a romantic notion for sure.

How would one tell?

Incidentally, is there some support or evidence for reincarnation that I am just missing here?

In the past I have, at times, believed in things like links or special connections between people.

I'm not someone who still has those beliefs, but they are interesting.

Are people who are lonely just those who having not been incarnated before have no special connections?
Is is possible for someone to exist who has not been incarnated previously?
People who are abused and killed by their partners, is this also part of their connection and karma?

It seems so easy to apply to feel good relationships, but difficult to apply to relationships that feel bad. I even wonder about serial killers, do they feel some sort of connection to their victims?

I am very interested in the idea that this life is the afterlife. I suppose reincarnation proposes a form of that.

Ever know something was going to happen before it happened?

I don't have premonitions like that.

I think it applies to negative and positive relationships.

It makes sense that it would apply evenly.

Nillion, the evidence that reincarnation for me is belief in a few New Age Spiritual beliefs as well as having lots of synchronicities in my life such as meeting people who are very like-minded to me (like my friend Deff!). Its these sorts of experiences that make me believe that I have met these people before in a past life, or I have experienced these sorts of experiences in a past life, and I am reliving them as sort of new yet old learning experience. Its like the whole Deja vú experience. Some believe that Deja vú experiences are one type of "evidence" of reincarnation as we are remembering something that once happened to us in a previous lifetime.

If time is non-linear and we experience it in a linear manner then it may produce experiences like this as well, there may be more than one explanation for such phenomena. Not saying there is no reincarnation, but there are teachings that the incarnation of self is something that repeats in a single lifetime because self is an illusion. The deeper teachings of early Buddhism contain no claims about past lives but as the religion develops the concept of incarnation of self changes a great deal over time. Basically as far as that goes, if there is no self, there is nothing to incarnate. The escape of Samsara is not found in the avoidance of future incarnations of the flesh, but in avoiding the incarnations of the mind, which are related to desire and suffering. Hence training and conquering the mind controls it and prevents incarnation of the self as a manifestation of mind. It is the bull being tamed, in the ancient way.

It is similar, in a way, to how in certain Vedic teachings there are no Gods, The Trimurti of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu for example, teaches certain things, but they are not actually deities or entities in the deeper teachings. Today though, people who worship the aspects of the Trimurti as if they were actual Gods that can walk and talk etc.

We are living in a time when the teachings have become lost and obscure. Ways of life that train the body and mind have become perverted into systems of worship of deities. Rather than follow the original, now obscure, teachings of Buddha and Jesus, for example, people worship them as supernatural deities.

However, I cannot say that reincarnation of the soul into repeated lives is not a thing. Only that I have no reason to think it exists.
Others have their own convictions, perceptions and paths.

Its also my belief that we all have a Soul that cannot die but rather transfers from one state to the next (such as Life to Death then Life again) much like how energy in physics transfers from one form to the next.

I do not share such a belief.
As mentioned above, the origin of concepts of reincarnation in Buddhist as well as Vedic traditions wasn't originally a claim of the soul leaving the body and finding a new one. It became changed over time, as religions do, to become much more supernatural in terms of claims. The purpose of those religions originally was to teach self mastery rather than to attain to or promote supernatural concepts such as avoiding reincarnation of the body after death. The purpose of self mastery was to prevent suffering and promote good behavior.
However there is nothing wrong with believing that the soul exists, it may, I just don't have any experience or knowledge that affirms such a thing and so cannot have faith in it.

The other piece of evidence I have is strong interests... Im a believer that you keep your personal interests from one lifetime to the next and perhaps add new ones each lifetime.

I happen to find a great deal interesting as well.

What about music?
Ever hear a song and a few seconds later know you absolutely loved it?
Would the strong sense of connection and interest then indicate a relationship or interest in the song from a past life?

Because I experience love at first listen with some songs.

Love at first site isn't something I have experienced or believe in.
It seems like it would be nice.
I hope those who experience it appreciate that not all of us have those kinds of experiences.

I'm in love.

Have been for some time.

Having seen that person for 10 years, 3 months and 2 weeks, give or take a few days. I miss them when I think about them, which is a few times a day.

It didn't work out.

Love is like that sometimes.

The idea that someone could form this kind of love attachment to someone at a glance seems impossible to me.

My broken heart is a normal part of life that I accept and don't worry about. I'm not sad that my heart is broken, if that makes any sense. I let it be a lesson to me, I have no interest in love or affection and likely am unable to trust people now. I'm celibate by choice. That's all trivia but its a part of who I am.

Nillion, my view of reincarnation differs from Eastern Schools of thought. I get my perspective from New Age schools of thought.

Do you have any links with more info about this?

Interesting stuff.

Do you believe that Avatars exist?
That among those incarnated repeatedly are some divine beings with a specific purpose?

I love it.

Seeing people in those kind of relationships makes me happy, even when they are characters in a show.
