Always both. Every send I do gets a transfer as well for backup.
Okay, not every transfer gets a send, though. So, technically not ALWAYS both.

But what about a back up to the back up?

"Two plates are like one and one is like none." I gotta figure out who first told me this to give credit.

I have probably around 200 backup plates right now. I can fit 25 in a box and ship domestic for around 8 bucks to friends and around 15 internationally usually. Once I don’t need them anymore, that’s how they go preferably

I love this. What recipe did you use?
I've been battling pretty badly with condensation in my plates. I've even tried water bathing down to 120°F

I learned it in the context of general preparedness: "Two is one and one is none."

Gotta get colder! Haha try starting your pour around 115ish. Plastic is just part of the condensation game. I know some guys cool for hours in front off their ffu with them unwrapped

Hey, new here. First time cultivating. I did a spore syringe to agar plate and this was my result so far after 3 days. Is this mycelium? How does it look?

Thanks supa! I think it's because I let the grain water sit over night to let all the particulates settle, and then poured carefully from the top. That plus the fact that it's popcorn water, by far the lightest colored grain water I've seen

I've been battling pretty badly with condensation in my plates. I've even tried water bathing down to 120°F
250mL grain water, 250mL H2O from the tap 0.5g yeast 10g agar
Color is:

I had way more condensation issues when I would seal my dishes. Now I use ziplock sandwich bags to store 4 plates at a time and only really deal with condensation when there are large temperature swings in my room
I pour on the colder side, a lot of the time the last bit of my bottle is either chunked up/solidified and not useable. I need to get a temp gun to be able to quantify the sweet spot where all of the sediment at the bottom of the bottle has a thin solidified layer that traps it, but still hot enough that there are no chunks of agar that end up being too large/awkward shaped to get an even surface when poured into a dish

Looks like an excellent start. Kudos for starting with agar.
I would recommend looking into cling wrap or parafilm for wrapping you plates, though. That tape is not ideal, but it got you this far, so good going.
