Nowadays I don't understand how people who go to online forums like this one can possibly be lonely.  You are surrounded by people, most of whom are willing to talk to you, assuming you don't act like an ass.

I feel there's a difference between chatting on an online forum and talking to someone in person.

Last night I sat on my couch watching a show and suddenly I started missing watching a show with someone else just sitting next to me. Not even talking to each other, just sitting there to enjoy a movie together.

A great thing about having people around is the immediate response when you say something. They can probably also relate way better to what you try to convey, since they share your space, see what you see, etc.

Don't get me wrong the shroomery is a great place, but it can't replace real time or real life interactions.

Exactly

Interacting with anonymous people through a screen doesn't replace real intimacy or companionship.
Tends to make people who are already feeling lonely feel worse when you tell them they should not be lonely because of a website with anonymous people they can possibly create a connection with.

Interaction on here may reduce loneliness for some, not all. Bravo for those who achieve that. IF not, there are links below with options of other things people can do.

No shame
we all have issues.
