Does anyone think this guy is a hero?
    #28614451 - 01/08/24 07:48 PM (5 months, 15 days ago)

He tackled some drunk driver who was trying to flee the scene. Is he a hero?

Or is the guy pussy that just wants attention to get on camera to get on the news and couldn't care less about the person that died in the accident? I mean that guy fleeing was moving slow as a turtle couldn't even breathe in the guy barely caught up to him and he fell on the ground before he was tackled anyway.

Everyone else was trying to break the window to get the guy that died out of the car they didn't even turn around to try and go after the guy except this one "hero" who needed to be on the news and ran up and caught some Guy moving at like a mile and a half per hour.

But I guess some call him a hero

Somebody needed to make sure that guy didn’t get away. Why project so much negative stuff on that guy?
You act like he did it just to be on the news and called him a “hero”. I’m telling ya, his instincts kicked in and he was doing what he thought was right
Maybe think about why you think such things about people willing to spring into action and try to stop being negative

We can never know. Sometimes we act on our most basic instincts. Like stopping a threat or saving someone that needs help

There are two types of dudes in this type of scenario

The one that chases the bad guy and the one that was gonna stand with his thumb up his ass and his phone in his hand making sure he got some good content

I think we know which type OP would be

Kind of seems like you care more about what people think based on the content of your phone then about actually going out and helping someone and stopping a bad situation

Yes, I am the man that runs towards chaos and danger when a situation needs someone to handle it.  I trust my brain, reflexes, and strength to protect me, especially if someone is hurt or is doing someone wrong, and especially if it's a female.  I have daughters so I instinctually rush to protect all females when I see some bullshit happening, because her dad isn't there so I step up and hope a man like myself will be there when my daughters need it.  That's what real men do

I run up to car accidents, I've seen dead bodies, I've saved a woman that was desperate to get away from a man that was trying to hold her against her will.  The look of gratitude on her face when she passed me after I got that sack of shit to let her go using only my words was fucking priceless

Not a hero, but I will give him an award for giving a shit. I remember not too long ago I transported someone to a level 1 trauma center who killed someone in a wreck. I treated them great, had no time to worry about the crash because there was a LOT of shit going on at that scene. The person (my patient) lied to me about wearing their seatbelt and there was evidence that their dome hit the windshield like twice... this person was having pains in places that were concerning to me, due to mechanism of injury, etc. So off we go!

We arrive at the L1 Trauma center and wait to be triaged because it's busy AF on a weekend night. At some point I talk to one of the flight crew members who arrived about the same time as me about the wreck. We can literally see the live video of the helicopter landing and unloading the patient. Later, flight crew guy comes up to me (we are still waiting in triage) after delivering his patient and says there was one fatality and they flew in the driver who was extricated from the car that WAS on fire. He told me about the extent of his patient's injuries.

The patient on the stretcher asks me "Wait, did someone die?" I said yes, there was one person who died and the other person was flown in on a helicopter. The look on this persons face was a look of "I did something very bad". I knew then that this person on my cot was the cause of the entire accident. They knew they had killed someone. They just got very quiet after that.

Turns out this patient of mine was a complete POS. Scammer, criminal, etc. Must have fallen asleep at the wheel or been high AF and blew through an intersection slamming into the back of a few cars that were stopped at the red light. There was one car that caught on fire and killed the person in the passenger seat. The fucking car was half the size, trunk touching the back seats of the passenger and driver. The driver was extricated and had to be quickly intubated due to airway compromise and probably had multiple other injuries.

I hope you enjoyed my story since we are on the topic of fatal car crashes. It also helps me to write it out, anonymously, of course. I have a lot more stories too.

I found it.  I still had a flip phone 3 years ago so the video sucks.

DO NOT QUOTE THIS VIDEO-I WILL BE TAKING IT DOWN

What happened before the video:
My 14 y/o daughter and I were in the McD drive up line, she noticed a man and woman in an empty parking lot next door and something seemed off to her.  I told her to keep at eye on them and I'd run over if something happened or we'd check it out after getting our food.
10 min later we got our food and something was still going on. We drove over and parked faced them, close but not real close.  He was crouched down with his arm hanging inside the driver's window.  We were close enough I could see the woman was very concerned

Me: Hey is there a problem?
Him: Yeah, she's trying to drive off with me on the car
Me: Are you somehow tied to the car?...wait a few seconds before repeating louder and slower.  Are you tied to the car?
Him: (realizes how stupid he sounds) Well no but...
Me: Then you need to get off of her car.  (wait a few seconds) Whatever you thought was gonna happen here, it isn't. Not today pal, not today

He removes his hands from her car.

The video starts when he drops his head realizing he's gonna let this young woman drive off when he really didn't want to
I hollered "hey miss" 2x and you can see my hand wave at her to drive off
She rolls by, gives me a look and mouths "thank you" with the most relieved look I've ever seen on someone.  He got in his car to follow, so I followed him, he saw me then turned off and I followed her at a good distance until I was sure he was a long way off

I'm no hero, I can't just watch someone being shitty to someone and I've had enough bullshit happen to know that there aren't many things in life worth being afraid of
I do these things because I'm a dad, and that young woman has a dad, and that dad couldn't be there at that moment,  so as a dad I see it as my job to step in and handle it, and it's my hope that when my daughters are somewhere without me and some scary shit is happening that there will be someone there to look out for them so they can get home safely
