My wife really likes it, she's a big Harry Potter buff, she's far from a hardcore gamer, it's keeping her occupied questing and whatnot

Harry Potter was a huge comforting and safe part of my life growing up. I was big into the fandom, I read and wrote fanfics and everything. That said I was never planning on playing the game because how much of a hate filled person Rowling continues to reveal herself to be.
However… my wife recently bought it for me and gosh, I hate to admit how much I love this game and how much I needed it in my life. The levels of tween Sara wish fulfillment this game has provided was honestly a little overwhelming at first. I’m pretty sure I spent like 2-3 hours at the start of the game just walking around Hogwarts looking at everything and not doing a single quest or anything.
And on top of that cozy place nostalgia overload, the game takes place in practically my favorite time period. I’m a huuggeee history nerd and I am absolutely fascinated with all things Victorian/ Edwardian. So I love everything about the style of the game from the fashion to the architecture to the furniture designs. The late Victorian feel of everything is such a perfect icing on the cake for a game that already felt like it was made just for me. Gosh I love it.
Onto the actual game lol. I’m 30 hours into it currently and I have only completed one of the task things (minimizing spoilers here) The story has been a lot of fun so far and the combat and playing don’t draw any complaints. There are plenty of fun little side quests and things to look for and collect all around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the surrounding areas. And the size of the open work is honestly beyond my expectations. I would have been happy with just Hogwarts and Hogsmeade but they added so much more and filled it with all sorts of cute little hamlets to explore. I find myself hardly ever using floo powder to fast travel because I’d rather just walk or fly there so I can look and and appreciate everything on the way. I can already tell I’m going to see A LOT of hours into this game and fully plan to 100% it.
I’m a total Slytherclaw, so for this first play though I decided to play a Ravenclaw mean girl with a Slytherin boyfriend lol. So that’s another thing I really appreciate about the game is how it lets me be petty as fuck and rude for absolutely no reason all the time and seemingly without consequence. It’s honestly hilarious. I told this girl I would get her books back but one of them was her diary so I blackmailed her, or another time this guy asked me to get this plant for him so he could prove his bravery to people or something so I just got the plant and refused to give it to him making fun of him instead. I’m a terrible person so these types of interactions in games always gives me a wicked bubbly feeling inside.
So ya, wasn’t planning on playing it because screw Rowling, but gosh am I glad I did, now I can’t put the thing down. I’ve been on vacation the past few days and can’t stop thinking about playing it once I get back.

I felt the exact same way as you. It’s like you don’t want to love it as much as you do. But once you start playing it, it’s impossible to put down. I wish there had been more that I could do. I scoured the landscape. I made incredible vivariums. But I was still hungry for more content by the end.
Such a good escape.

I played for a while but they lost me with the "Wizzard ball game", I didn't like the gameplay but want to come back so much because I like the universe of Harry Potter a lot!

Honestly, just power through the mini game that you don’t like. At some point everything becomes basically optional.
