Fliquid - New demo! Going out.

I spent a lot of time last friday on making a new track I call Going out. Everything has been made manually, only used one loop which I changed entirely by using effect filters.

Let me know if it gives a specific sensation, please listen with your eyes closed!

Just to let you know I like Ambient so the first half of the track was great. Gave me the sensation I was in a deep cavern with a pirate ship floating by...lol. But I did not care too much for the background beats. Something a little more tribal and slower would have been much more fitting. Just a little constructive criticism, no offense intended.
Good work

Thanks, I'm still not sure about the beats. Could be that I change them. But I won't change the BPM it will stay at 135.

That'll be fine. I gave it another spin and the track did give me that tingley feeling only some tracks give me and that is pretty hard to do. Congrats. Reminds me of Aphex Twin's - Ageispolis Don't know why though

Well I was under the intense power of hashish. I have the skill to develop strange environment-creating sounds. Look up FLiquid at http://www.vitaminic.com for some old music which also have that feeling.
You could also try the oxy track on the minds of music website.

It's interesting.
I think the beginning is well done--good ambient style creating a sense of space, mood, and mystery.
But the drums that come in, seem like they are out of place... I see a set of green mossy hills and stagnant trees, with a heavy fog rolling through them. Hard to see far, but the hills are many and steep so the fog gets trapped below. Although it isn't too creepy, it's definitely intriguing and mysterious. But when the drums come in, it seems like there's a party happening somewhere else that I can't find thru the fog. The drumbeat itself is cool, but I don't know if it fits together in my head with the wind and echo-ey notes. It seems to end abruptly, is that on purpose or because it's a demo?
Overall, I think you're going in the right direction. You're great at developing an atmosphere, I think my ears tho just want a little more blending between the drumbeat at the end and the rest of the tune... Not sure how. Maybe it seems out of place because it comes in and stays consistent only just toward the end?

Thank you, I did my best (can always try to do better ofcourse).

I know, next step is to smoothen it a lot more. But you ambient comment made me think that it might be an idea to make two versions of the track.

Thats the thing I'm going to try and add, I'm going to try and make it sound as if you are walking toward a party.

Indeed, because it's a demo.

I agree fully, I had the same view on it as well. Thanks!

Hey Fliq, do you know the Boards of Canada song called "Alpha and Omega"? It starts like it sounds far away, washed with reverb and sort of compressed and EQ'ed like a telephone. Then a little ways in it quickly surrounds your ears and then the track begins.
I've tried to duplicate this, having it sound far away then coming closer... It's tough to do IMO, but with the right tools and the right sounds to begin with, I think it could sound fuckin dope.

I guess they probably had a reverb open and then closed it. That would be the only way to make it sound like that. But they did a smooth job indeed. (I know almost all the Boards of Canada tracks, i'm a huge fan of them). Should be possible, I could give it a try. Wouldn't be that much fun I think since it would be more of a copy of something somebody already did. But thats just what I think.
