Can you relate to the feeling of being tempted to respond to a thread or starting a thread, but then decide against actually doing it?
Lately I often find myself in that situation and I used to post a lot on here... Now I would start typing a reply and half way through I would just delete everything and log out. It's kind of frustrating.

...and yes, I was about to log out, without pressing "Ok, submit".

Yeah, it happens to me sometimes. Or I will start a thread, and the comments are so uninteresting or so off-topic, that I dont even want to respond anymore.

What stops you? I think everyone should post more.

That's a good question, which I've been asking myself for a while now...
Part of the reason might be me questioning whether my input is going to change anything. I have grown a lot more quiet in general over the past year.
But that can't be the only reason as it seems like others feel the same.

I, for one love debate and discussion. The more perspective that can be gained from a different point of view the better.

I enjoyed discussions and debates too and I probably still do. Like #3 just mentioned, a healthy discussion requires the right people. Often I see people just stating their points of view and defending them at all costs, if someone else comes up with their version of the truth.

Almost everyone is guilty of that at some point lol. That's what convictions usually are and some people definitely have some odd ones... I ignore it and try not to judge it is what makes people people afterall. We are paradoxical creatures which is what ends up making up able to function because at the same time we are inherently almost black and white logical.

I'm constantly going through this not just here but throughout life in general. It's definitely a lack of confidence on my part but also some of the people you end up dealing with can be quite cruel with the comments. You just need to look through a Reddit or Facebook posts to see the best and worst people have to offer.

Whenever I do something. I checked the comments a lot later when it’s on Reddit. Because I don’t care what they have to say. I’m usually just sharing a thought. I don’t need their input or opinions.
I think you should try to practice here if you’re having a hard time. Share your thoughts. Then maybe ignore the thread. Check it later. After nobody’s talking anymore. Then you can start to see how you would have responded.
Maybe it’ll be a good practice experience for the real thing.

That is a beautiful idea and I'd love to see this thread to evolve into something meaningful.
I for instance haven't checked in here for a while.
Anon #7, keep in mind Facebook, reddit or other social media can create a distorted impression on society. At least that's what I believe. People tend to not take any consideration when it comes to how they talk to others, because of the anonymity of the internet. It's so much different when you talk to people face to face.

Anon#5 great advice I'll give it a shot thanks
I agree Anon#1 when people are in a group they bounce of each other for better or worse. I'm a electrician and have lunch in a room with two other trades (15 people max) the individuals are great on there own or in a small group, we have educated discussions but the whole dynamic actually changes when just one or two bad apples rock up. Normally have to go eat somewhere else

It sometimes feels like I'm post farming and ruining a lot of threads, which could be on par or worse.
