Preferred psychedelic for mental health?

Many species of active shrooms, cubes, pans, semps, nats, tamps, ect. Not to mention all the other psychs, DMT, mescaline, LSD, MDMA, weed, ketamine? What do you prefer for treating depression and why? Open to hearing preferences for other health conditions too.

LSD is the most effective for me for depression, the effect lasts from 4 weeks up to 3 months. It doesn't really work if I take a tourist dose though, I have to really get in there. It's just bliss as well. Even when it's weird it's wonderful.
Mushrooms work well on me too, but not long on smaller doses and heavier doses can be pretty scary. The wondering whether I've done too much and when I'm gonna stop coming up is one hell of a ride every time, can be pretty unnerving.

I don't have a lot of experience, this is my experience, weed was absolutely horrible for my mental health. For me it's shrooms.

Northener, all species of shrooms are the same for you?

Any specific species? I know cubes are most common. Have you tried others?

Yes set and setting fo sho. I still want to know people's personal preference. I see posts where people like the high of nats or pans better.

LSD, hands down. With my experience with this psychedelic, I know what to expect and when to have my setting perfect before it peaks, and I catch the bed at the exact right time.
LSD also seemed to last longer post trip, in terms of anti depressants effects for me.
Mixing shrooms with LSD is also highly effective, this got rid of my depression for a couple years. I can't wait to do it again.
Fadimen's "The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide" is a must read. It goes into detail on how to properly prepare for the experience
And if you go into it with the intention of some healing, that will be what you get. Don't fight it at all. It will feel much more relaxing and natural to just go with it
I would put together a consistent set and setting as a safe zone and make it friendly to your trip.

What you do after is important. I had insight into my trauma on psychedelics but that was just the beginning, it led to years of therapy and various interventions that were very helpful.
after set, setting and the bigger context, I think dose is most important.
If I had depression and wanted to look into it I would choose a light dose of mushrooms, a light dose of DMT, moderate dose of LSD, 2C-B, mescaline, or 2C-e. I think I'd lean towards the LSD, 2c-B, or mescaline.

Yes I forgot about hard working on self improvement and therapy after. Curious why light dose of shrooms and DMT vs moderate dose of others?

mushrooms and dmt tend to take me into other worldly realms more than the others and that can be helpful but is less predictable
like for example i experienced being tortured as many different people over and over again on mushrooms, and that was a useful insight in some ways but probably wasn't the ideal treatment for depression

For microdoses mushrooms or mescaline.
For actual trips, LSD or mescaline. Mainly LSD. LSD has saved my life - I would've committed suicide or overdosed without a care around 6-7 years ago without it.
LSD also helped me quit drinking - I drank daily for years and after an 150ug LSD trip the day before thanksgiving I was able to cease daily alcohol use without any issue or anxiety. I am now in complete control of my drinking and choose to have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner once every couple of weeks.

Each psychedelic has unique properties that lend themselves to different kinds of healing effects, IMO. For me:
-LSD is very analytical, great for analyzing systems including how I am nested within a family, society, culture, linguistic system, etc.
-Mushrooms seem particularly adept at unlocking "shadow aspects" of my psyche, those dark and repressed areas, and helping me to digest the repressed emotions within the darkness. My biggest inner transformations have occurred because of psilocybin trips.
-Mescaline is more heart centered with empathogenic qualities, and I always find myself contemplating my place within my communities. Not in the analytical way that LSD can do, but more in a "felt" sense of connection and hyperawareness of the emotions of others. I also feel stronger afterward for weeks, something about the grueling nature of a 14 hour cactus trip causes my whole system to level up, including physically.
That being said, all psychedelics are fantastic for making connections, amplifying awareness, creating openness, and confronting difficult topics in novel/surprising ways.

Blue Cthulhu, I like this breakdown of properties.
Cubes and pans make me more and more nauseous that I rarely take them anymore, even if I make tea. It's as if the body load has gotten worse.
14 hours of mescaline is even longer than LSD! I'm wondering if other active mushroom species are better for depression or easier on my body. I'll look into DMT, I wish it was easier to find.

Mushrooms (solo) and ayahuasca (in ceremony) have been immensely beneficial for my anxiety and depression.
I have to go fairly deep inside both for the therapeutic benefits though. For me the complete shift of consciousness is where the seeds are planted for deep work.

It was challenging and I'll spare you the details, but it helped me have more compassion for people. It also helped me learn to surrender to a greater degree.
I've been through different phases with psychedelic healing. In my teens there were big openings and also big insight into my traumas. In my 20's there was a period where it seemed to be working on the energetic system in my body. It wasn't fun, it honed in on the discomfort of the energetic blocks, and there wasn't the big cathartic releases that came from the openings and trauma stuff. Then in my 30's it became more transpersonal with stuff like being tortured. Then I started just opening up to like pure bliss and expansiveness which was neat but I wasn't learning much, so now my new edge is to take low to moderate doses in situations where my stuff comes up, like with other people, with my dad, out in public etc and this is helping to find places I'm stuck still.

Such a common thing with me when on weed, even now, when I have plenty experience with weed, it happens every now and then. Unfortunately sometimes it's quite hard to just get along with the ride and relax.

it can be a wonderful mind training, teaching to surrender, to find the peace thats always there, even in the midst of panic...

What's a low to moderate dose? Would you consider it micro dose? I used to think it was taking an amount below perceivable effects but learned it is actually "approximately 1/5 to 1/20 of a recreational dose".
Being outside distracts me from the nausea but not so helpful for working through my mental shit.
