Here's to not legalizing mushrooms this year on october 7. Revenge of the shrooms. They're like "we're a native species, how can we be illegal?"

Yea and they're everywhere.

Four days hunting in a row for me and four days of finding new patches. I swear I'm seeing as many cyans as I am anything else. Leaving tons of pins around as well that will hopefully blossom.

Here's some pics from today.

These guys growing right around some mycena...

The picture doesn't do justice but this guy was huge, 5-6cm across. Left a dense spore print on the one beneath too.

That fairy circle is awesome! It’s been a huge year in Sacramento. I’ve only found a couple new patches this season mostly because I’ve been so busy harvesting my known patches. I did find a new patch up in auburn which is the highest elevation I’ve found them. I’m just gonna post a few highlights of the season.  Also has anyone had any experience getting any of their finds lab tested?

Bush-lurker - I thought the same thing when I saw that post. The patch that one was found in was by far my biggest patch last year but this year it’s barely produced anything. Many of the fruits that did come up had strange traits and were more delicate than usual.

Haven’t hunted much at all this season I’ve been too obsessed with edible mushrooms and sitting in the woods.
I love the dedication of the office park hunters what a dull place to hunt, but what amazing rewards you can find.

I ran into a few other hunters in SF they all said this year has been outstanding for them. Most my patched didn’t produce much or my timing was off. Next year I’ll try and find new spots (maybe this season too if I can get out there again before it’s over)

It seems the mycelium network is strong access the board form the last few seasons of good rainfall let’s hope this trend continues 🤞
Hers is a nice little cluster with green grass and sunshine from Friday.

No pics right now but... it's been a good year for me. I found 10 new spots this season. 3 cyan spots, 7 allenii. I harvested a good amount of fat allenii yesterday. Those 3 spots had put out one flush already a few weeks ago. These were mostly mature mushrooms, no new pins. I found another new allenii spot yesterday also, but they were too far gone to harvest. So it seems allenii are more common? But in the area where I live, cyanescens have been the most common find for me, 3 to 1 vs allenii, over several years, 2 cyan spots found here this season. One cyan patch had really small mushrooms, anyone know why? Some areas have just been loaded this year, making it nearly impossible to not find any. The hunting in the coast hasn't been nearly as productive as closer to the bay. Hope this all makes sense. Some of the spots are very close to each other, but in different beds separated by sidewalk or pavement. I did not include or count those as being separate spots in the total, though.

I’m still finding some nice cyans but smaller amounts.  Season is not over yet but it almost is.

I did find this monster today in a spot I haven’t hunted this year.

Over 4” in diameter with a very fat stem.  Weighed 31g wet.  Trying to coax a print of it but it may have already dropped all its spores.  The others around it were also pretty big so I’ll probably get a print off of one of them.

4" damn!

But yea season is winding down. I checked my spots today and picked two mature cyans, left about 10 smaller guys that I'm hoping will put on some weight with some rain over the weekend.

Clocking in around an ounce of dried cyans this year. More than double what I found in my first year hunting last year, so pretty pleased with this year's flush :mushroom2:.

Here’s a few of the many cyans I found today.

Took it in a hurry so sorry for the blurriness.  They are still out there.

Yea, I grabbed a nice haul this past weekend as well. A few spots had a second flush.

A nice little trio:

Love the caramel caps when they are wet:

A baby slug blasting off underneath this guy:

One of many patches of pins I saw that I'll be going back for after next weekend's rains:

Finally, some fresh caps from the weekend sautéing in butter :mushroom2:, read more here:

I'm expecting one more successful hunting outing sometime next week to pick up the pins.
