caeruleorhiza or ovoids or something else? 2

the Mycology subreddit sent me here, people can’t seem to decide if these are ovoids or caeruleorhiza or maybe something completely different, I’m very new to mycology, apologies for the picture and spore print quality
Habitat: pretty old broken down woodchips, Central Indiana, Found on New Years Day, around 40°F/5°C and raining
Gills: Tan to Dark Brown, attached, color seemingly dependent on age
Stem: fibrous, pretty thick walls but hollow
Cap: up to 3~ish diameter, seem to start concave, then go flat or concave with time, no umbo, smooth texture
Spore print color: purple-y brown, the light in the photo is kinda yellow, apologies,
Bruising: blue to blue-black.
Other information: smells like dirt, not spicy, http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/195504414

I would think the only way to be certain would be to get them sequenced. I’m not sure caeruleorhiza has been formally described, being so new makes it hard to nail down because we don’t know all its shapes and sizes yet. For all we know a many of what we’ve been calling ovoid and blue foots have been caeruleorhiza. Maybe if you grew it out on agar and it did that cool blue rhizo ring thing it’s done could narrow it down. Would love to hear what others have to say.

Could be psilocybe caeruleorhiza, but I don't know much about that species. It's not ovoids.

I think they are most likely Psilocybe caeruleorhiza.
Given the appearance, location, habitat and time of year it would surprise me if they were anything else.
Also damn… having looked at the pics on the iNat observation… epic find!

They're not ovoids.

EPIC find. If you're into the whole wavy-gravy thing, you could feed that chip-patch with new hardwood mulch to propagate, although it certainly doesn't appear to need your intervention to flush heavily. Very very cool discovery, whoda thunk you'd get a mystery species in Indiana in early-winter.
Need to find a Gene-weenie to get out their bifocals and take a peek at them helices.

Apologies for being too nerdy with my above post, but do want to say awesome find! Comparing them to other possible caeruleorhiza finds on iNat I’d think that’s likely what you have.

I believe it's classified as a "nom. prov.", meaning it isn't formally described scientifically yet, and can thus only be named provisionally. So yeah, it is brand new.
Psilocybe caeruleorhiza was coined by Alan, if I'm not entirely mistaken.
However I have no idea whether OP's find is that species. Pretty hard to tell since there are so few sightings and very few pictures available.

I have agar and petri dishes coming in tomorrow, a bunch of the woodchips covered in mycelium in a bag with a damp paper towel to keep them moist, I have attempted to dry the mushrooms I picked with mixed success, my oven doesn’t go below 170, even with the door propped open, some of them got kinda crispy, the ones I set near a radiator seem to have done better, but I guess we’ll find out. assuming I do want to send these off for dna sequencing what else am I likely to need?

Use a fan and a window screen or something. Better than using an oven if you don’t have a dehydrator.

I reached out to Alan Rockefeller on instagram, he agrees they’re P. caeruleorhiza, gonna dry a sample and send to him and to the Ohio guy, so that’s exciting. Thanks for all your help guys.
