I'd be flying high until around 1 am when it would level off. After that it's that feeling where you're still tripping but you've gotten used to it so it's almost like you're sober. That's when I'd try to go to sleep. It was dumb to think I could get to sleep so soon. I'd spend hours laying in bed worrying about how shitty I'd feel if I didn't get to sleep. I would worry about everything while I laid there. And then I'd plow through the next day feeling like shit because I got no real sleep. It was a bad pattern, but I was stuck tripping at night because it was the only time I had some privacy.
In those days I had no access to mushrooms. It would have been much different. I can do shrooms at 7:30, spend the evening yawning and then enjoy drifting off. I can be totally asleep by 1am -2am.
yah, but even with your worrying, wasn't the ceiling based light show fantastic?

LogicaL Chaos said: Shrooms definitely have a similar stimulating quality to Acid, just that it lasts slightly shorter at around 8-9 hrs or so from when I took the shrooms.
I tried to elaborate on the reason for this in a post above.
People with a tolerance to amphetamine-like molecules are going to find psychedelics less stimulating and are much more likely to be able to sleep after taking them.
Stimulants like meth act on the TAAR1 receptor, this is what causes the stimulation. Psilocin and many other psychedelic alkaloids also act as agonists at the same receptor and have some stimulating effects because of this. Conversely many stimulants also act at the 5HT2a serotonin receptor and have some psychedelic effects.
However in the case of things like meth, the stimulant action strongly overshadows the psychedelic effects. In the case of things like psilocin the psychedelic effects overshadows the stimulant effects, however those stimulant effects are still present.
Nearly all psychedelics act as agonists at the TAAR1 receptor and are stimulating. The TAAR1 receptor is the trace amine receptor, so these psychedelic amines with structures akin to various trace amines found naturally in the human body are able to interact with the same receptor. More about the Trace Amine system of the body can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trace_amine
Note that though it mentions there that DMT has not been shown as of 2015 to be a TAAR1 agonist, psilocin, which is DMT with a hydroxyl group at the 4 position, is known as a TAAR1 agonist. Also interesting is that adding a methyl group to the amine of the molecules often increases their affinity for the TAAR1 receptor and increases their stimulant effects while decreasing their psychedelic effects.
We like to try to categorize molecules according to their predominant effects, calling some stimulants and others psychedelics but that is a gross oversimplification. Many stimulants are mild psychedelics, many psychedelics are mild stimulants and many molecules exist that are somewhere in-between and have pronounced stimulant and psychedelic effects.
It is quite normal for most people to be unable to sleep for some time after taking psychedelics.

Is this TAAR1 receptir responsible for giving you the teeth grinding effect? It always bugged me a little that acid always gives me a little bit of jaw clenching.

hmm i thought jaw clenching was more dopaminergic but also serotonergic, i had the urge on shrooms, mdma, speed, coke...
i can't sleep while on psychs but if the effects wore off, it works fine. acid takes longer naturally..

To oversimplify a bit, the TAAR1 receptor is part of the dopaminergic system. From the wikipedia page on TAAR1:
Quote:
TAAR1 is a high-affinity receptor for amphetamine, methamphetamine, dopamine, and trace amines which mediates some of their cellular effects in monoamine neurons within the central nervous system.
The primary endogenous ligands of the human TAAR1 (hTAAR1) receptor, by rank order of potency, are: tyramine > β-phenethylamine > dopamine = octopamine.

When I didn't eat acid for like 6 months my first trip back on it I didn't sleep for over 40 hours. Did some insane stuff like bicycling non stop. Playing drums and factory work .
The more I ate it I'd have no problems sleeping and still trip the hell out
If anything that shit gets stronger the more I eat it. Where I'd enjoy tripping on it doing literally anything anywhere
Been tripping balls on acid at Costco a few times. Going around like a mad man. Some people definitely knew. I got some smiles back
Felt like I was on top of the fucking world :0 : )
Acid is the best thing ever to me where I can't understand why anyone would even want anything else at all

Eating some lsd a half an hour or so before falling asleep has led to some unique trips. Its chancey as heck, dream synergizing with the actions of the psychedelic, and i've never had it work 'intentionally'; rather, it's only ever occured wherein the two seem to work together somehow, but that I believe to be the result of some very lucky happenstance.
I do wish I knew how or even if my presumptions about the experiences so far concerning the above mentioned trips could come about.
I mean, anyone who's taken even 100ug or 5 x or 10 x much knows how unbelievably awesomely trippy the experience can be.
The sleep factor + tripping was unlike hundreds of other trips, all unique, to a point, but...idk. Talking about it seems pointless because lining up the two so that something novel happens? Idk, its probably nearly impossible, plus, again, it might've just been other variables & factors at play rather than dream+lsd synergy.

I cant sleep on any amount of LSD even a half hit until well after its over.
Post trip sleep is pretty deep, normally I get up once or twice to piss but after acid it like 10 hours straight and wake up with bursting bladder. That's is the best sleep i get all month, the trade off though is I'm tired as fuck and no way would I want to go to work the day after that, like i need a few days top recuperate, I'm always totally exhausted after

Lol at the golden God. Loved that movie
Never got the exhausted feeling from lsd and have tried tripping 3 days in a row. 2 days in a row often. Or every other day
Waking up sweating yes. It made me more of a high functioning insomniac
The only time It ever happened was probably at 14 hours of ridding a bmx style dirt jumper bike non stop all day.
Woke up one morning and took a hit of acid and just road as hard as I could listening to punk music
All I had that day was acid with the sunrise, coffee, water and a hand full of spirulina / chlorella pellets
It was yet again the best day of my life as acid usually does
I was really far off riding until i wasn't tripping anymore and started to feel light headed. I felt like I was going to pass out. My heart started beating faster. Vision cutting out. While I was trying to make it back home or to the bar for some gelato because I needed food
So I called some family to pick me up. I just told them my bike was broke and I didn't mention what was up. Because they can't even tell when I'm totally spun off my head on acid just gripped to reality
So I sat down at a creek while the sun was setting and felt a lot better
Ended up stopping for a bottle of white wine and some friends came over to play music. I was able to still play my drums really fast just off a banana some wine and weed.
My friend broke a guitar string so we went into my kitchen to make porcini mushroom pasta and it was good. I was insanely hungry
I have lots of trips like that. Where I road my bike so hard that I lost a shit load of muscle and fat. Acid is some seriously good shit. It makes me go hard and I don't need any food on it. Actually repulsed by eating anything for long after unless it's more like army food/ pellets
That was the only time that happened to me. My body and mind just started to fade out from not eating much but lots or tabs of acid. I usually eat up a day before
Somehow I'm completely fine but it was crazy. I think a lot of people would have lost their shit
I'm used to taking off on my bicycle and coming up on acid. Riding to be blown away. Like ho shit it's this fucking acid again
Something about it gives me a really big thrill. Where I probably look like I seen a ghost, with a mix of absolutely fucking crazy and happy on my face
The more I'd eat acid the harder it was to not ride my bike off earth. Literally ride it off this planet.
Ride all through this town I know and grew up in. I ride this ride everyday and I didn't know where I was anymore. Just kept riding for the thrill. It gives me the biggest rush. Surprisingly still even alive after how many times I've done that
Love acid but taking it easy. Must have a seriously strong mind and mental state, for my mind to not have completely snapped. I'm giving it some time before I trip again and don't plan on putting a hit on on my toung and taking off on my bike anymore
Things don't bother me the way they bother other people. Always been resilient unless I get completely shit faced drunk off alcohol
Something is really impressive about lsd. Where it doesn't make you think you're super human. You literally do become super human. Can't even believe my knees and body could take what it took. Riding like a big cat, a cheetah.
It did cary onto my sober riding for the most part and got my mussel mass back where I could race and pass people into cycling completely sober
I almost still feel that acid even though it's out of my system. It did really good and tripped a lot. I feel mentally never better
Didn't feel bear mace or any pain but just good on and from acid

Brings back memories purple sunset, I loved it during the years that acid used to give men super powers. The hectic missions that people can get up to when acid powered is wild.

Hell yeah : ) <333
The best part is all of the relief it made me feel to be and feel ok in society. It actually helped me think and be more normal. With a pure clear headed mind, heart and soul. Where I fit in and used to suffer with not fitting.
I felt as though I put a puzzle together from within
All though you guys and others are totally right about not over eating it. That shit can be scary. I see how people can and do freak out on it.
There are multiple reports on erowid of people even being beaten to death by the police who were tripping on lsd. Because of the shear power it can give you. I've felt it, like to a maximum fucking crazy level
Had freaked out in my own head off it many times, with that full blown energy. To either shower and or vacuum or make it home on my bicycle to clean my house
Plan to take eating it very seriously and no more costco. Even though Costco is the best place ever on acid. I enjoy rolling with all of the people and giving them their space and taking my time lol. Everyone probably wondered why I was so happy. It's just a really funny place with no anxiety for me and I'll never see it the same. Love the TVs
I was trying to settle down a bit and enjoy my life sober for a while.
For some reason I could always handle acid and shrooms but never did well with drinking lots of alcohol
I'll still be careful with them in the future even less is more with these things. Like I remember mentioning long ago less and less often is better.
Even though I want to feel that. Can't forget it's about feeling it through not taking the drug as well and just being & appreciating every moment to be alive

I've fallen asleep whilst tripping
It's very much like being in a void. You remember nothing essentially...well, I don't. I don't think I dream, which surprises me
