woah, thats wild i wonder if its some exotic plant imported from new zealand or somewhere else where subaeruginosa grows… maybe it rode into town on the plants roots somehow
i remember auweia found some in the bay years ago but that was an impossibly rare occurence, so finding some in a potted plant is even more absurdly strange

they were growing in a christmas cactus pot, fairly common plant but my thoughts were the same. Wondering if maybe these spores have been cross country in there life perhaps

I am going to do a huge photo dump on here soon. This season is insane. Best yet. I've already gotten over 5 dried pounds. The amounts are staggering. I'm spending hours a day picking spots. Good thing I don't have a job to get in the way 😁 here's a few choice pics for now. They're out there in massive numbers. Office parks are your best friend. Talk to the security guards, most of them don't give a fuck and think it's awesome. I've gotten approval to pick whole complexes this way. It's so easy to find massive numbers when you don't have to worry about anything but hunting. Just my advice. I hope y'all are finding more than me. Mush love.

I've been keeping an eye on the cyans patch I found in SF last season and it has fruited since I last checked about two weeks ago. Maybe bigger than last year at the same spot. Picked 20, left another 20 or so pins growing that I'll go back for later if others don't find them first!

My first ever psilocybe find. Im pretty sure both Alenni and Cyanscens are in these photos. Looking forward to searching more tomorrow.

Can’t say for sure about the middle picture (gill pics would confirm), but the top and bottom pics are both P. cyanescens.

Yeah, those were a bit more faded, Im glad to have looked at pictures of these species for so long, because the weathering can make then look quite distinct from eachother! All bluing, but here are a few of the Alleni gills for the extra assuredness, seems to match up- attached.

That's what I've observed as well.

Interesting!
Those are beautiful mushrooms, what ever they are.
I can def see the sub look to em'.

I found 8 or 9 of these clusters and instantly thought of that awesome patch that ZenZone posted early on in the season
Cool!
Those are some primo looking cyans. I dig the aesthetic of em' growing through the pebbles, neat!
Last year I found a small patch of cyans growing in a rock/pebble bed someone had in their yard, I imagine they used to have woodchip/mulch in the same spot previously.
I've only been out actively looking for fruits around town twice so far this season but haven't found a thing. I did find one patch of cyans in the backyard of a customer's place I was working at back in October. And I've tried hunting the coastal dunes in my area but it's such a new habitat/setting for me it is a bit daunting with how much area one has to walk through/hunt, versus urban hunting where it is very obvious where they could potentially be fruiting (mulched landscaping), hunting dunes/natural habitats is a whole other game lol, they can be almost anywhere (tho I do try to focus on areas with shade/moisture retention and lots of lignin rich detritus built up).
I now live in area that has a much more ideal climate for woodlovers compared to where I used to live, I'm on the northern coast of Cali, but the town/urban areas here just don't really have a lot of primo habitats/wood chips for woodlovers. The town I used to live in had tons of shopping plazas and commercial areas and restaurants with wide swaths of mulched/woodchips in landscapes, where I'm at now there just doesn't seem to be many places with woodchips/habitat for woodlovers even tho the climate is absolutely ideal for them.
I just need to get a patch of my on going in a pot/planter of sorts.

Cleaned up the rest of my patches. Getting pretty slim out there. No new pins and only a few babies here and there. Been one heck of a season though.

The subaeruginosa and incredibly resilient and adaptable Rafiikii, i wouldn't be surprised if they start becoming a dominant species/variety on the west coast.

A couple of my spots are going large but I’ve been sick and unable to go check them. There’s another spot I need to check too. It’s gonna wind down soon but this season has been a real ringer.

Found 4 new spots today, all within a half mile surrounding the only other spot I'd found .
Picked some choice ones, left a ton behind to grow a bit more over the next few days .

Love that mycelium
Yeah dude tell me about it. That's from one of the patches I pick at an office park I expanded on with some good genetics. Well, landscapers always put a big old pile of mulch out for a few days before they start spreading it. You know the rest of the story. But yeah that patch the mycelium is so thick and white and healthy, that the mushrooms fruiting underneath the plants we're so clustered together and huge they were uprooting them damn near. It's almost impossible to pull wood chips apart that it's so overran through it. There's so many down here where I'm at that I wish there was other people out picking to get them before they rot, but I don't ever see anybody.
