I've got a large container of dried porcini mushrooms. Does anybody have any recommendations as to what they're best in? I've never tasted them before, so I have no clue as to what they'd go best with. They actually smell a little bad (like many dried mushrooms do), so I can't really go by smell.
Yes, that's how my mom uses them. They do smell awful. If I remember correctly, my mom would soak them in water before adding them to the gravy. She even uses them in stews. Good luck with them. From what I remember, they are very expensive.
