A Quandary of Sorts
    #2860285 - 07/06/04 01:44 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

So... I saw on a thread a couple days back that a decent sized, decent potency MJ plant could be grown with some top notch soil, and a 250 watt light bulb. It wouldn't be anything grand, but it would still bud and produce THC right? Would it be worth it to try out, i have 7 seeds that were free... :mushroom2:

You'll do fine with a 250w, assuming you're using hps, and should be able to get a few under there too. If you are using good genetics, then you'll have some fine buds my friend.
This is with 400w, which isn't alot more then your 250..

I agree with iluan (nice plants there btw my friend) you could grow fat colas with that. Just remember a indoor growroom requires a lot more equipment, you need sufficient co2 air flow, odour release (they can stink out your entire house without proper methods of destroying the smell -some strains smell a lot more than others.

However, with a passion for what you're doing you might find yourself addicted to cultivation more than the recreation

it kind of depends on the type of bulb too, 250watts will put out different amounts of lumens....250watts through an incandecent bulb wont' do shit....250 watts of flourescents will be alright but a little on the low end, 250 watts through a High Pressure Sodium light will be pretty sufficient.

Well wow, i had no idea. I've only read a few things on growing, and all of them tell me if i don't get AT LEAST a 400 HPS i'm just wasting my time. This is good news indeed... Think a medium sized box (i have no closet space or anything like that) with some aluminum foil/mylar around the inside would alright to put it in? Would fanning it like shrooms a couple times a day be alright for air circulation? Thanks for the responses so far guys.

And damn iluan, nice plants. :mushroom2:

Iv seen the light spectrum on 250w HPS and they do not have a red spectrum that is consistant with a 400w hps.. They make the smaller ones cheaper because they are used in industry less.. Theyre more of an outdoors light or shop light, so theyre made cheap.... Unless you can find some bulbs that state otherwise, just make sure u know whta your getting.

You really need an exhaust fan at the top of your growroom and a gap at the bottom which will cause a vacuum and will act as a passive intake. If you don't provide your plants enough CO2 they won't thrive even in perfect conditions.

Also invest in a deskfan to blow gently over your plants to strengthen their stems.

Go read the growfaqs at overgrow

ive used cheap topsoil and incandecent/flouros (probably about 200w worth) and got budd.  Its not called weed for nothing.  the stuff grows good and easy.  it only gets more complicated with strains, quality, quantity.  It can grow in almost anything.  its a tough plant.

needless to say that budd was shit, may as well have fallen leaves off of other plants  :smirk:
