Found a nice small cluster of Cyans today.  Nearly all the caps were two inches plus across and the stems are really beefy.  They are mature but no signs of rot.    Placing stem butts around.  Added more chips to the site they are growing. Good times and more rain coming in!

both KissMycelium’s and my last photo show patches growing out of pine duff cover, and the others ive seen recently either had significant leaf cover or were in very deep shade

I should probably retract this statement. I checked a lot of deep habitat spots yesterday, seems limited and spotty at the moment, definitely not looking like a season’s peak of plenty out there. Maybe this weeks system will bring some early year flushes, lets see

Well.  They are out there but like you said…shade is the key.

A few very nice Allenii

The redwood needles cover over nicely aged wood chips provenance unknown.  I looked for hours after finding these little guys and it was the only score of the day.  Not complaining, as I found several choice Blewits nearby.

The cluster I found was in an extremely public place, so I picked them to protect small children and unsuspecting dogs.  hehe

The big score is usually in the last place you look.  I think the season has more legs on it.  Don't give up, look down!

in my experience, season for both allenii and cyans starts winding down first week of january, finishing up by mid-january

we can find them later than that of course, but much less frequently

This is pretty much my experience too, though I was still finding cyans in April of this year.  Just not a lot.

A couple of my spots that I found late season last year (probably January) are going pretty good right now.

Picked a little, left a lot.  All cyans.

One of those spots was rather conspicuous and required some digging so I didn't stay too long.  I'm going back in a few days, I think there is a LOT over there and the genetics are nice with big fat stems.

And just because I like banana slugs:

I would usually agree the season winds down around mid to late January, but I feel like this year could be different. Probably only half of my cultivated patches have really flushed out, and the one local cyan patch, just flushed out for the first time after this last storm system that rolled through. Hopefully, the rain we’ve gotten the last couple days, and the systems coming through will kick things off. I see mycelium coming to the surface, and definite signs of life in my own patches, so I am hopeful. I need to get out and drive out to check my main spot after the new year.  It’s always has something decent.

seems like my known spots aren’t doing anything at all.
but hunting new terrain has been pretty efficacious this season, lot of new spots. There are mature patches out there now, found these on a late afternoon jaunt in the rain today

Damn that’s a nice combined haul.  I’m enjoying the sounds on my skylight.  I think we’re in for some more flushes.

Decent amount of new flushes out there. Nothing crazy- seems the season has peaked…… still got a few weeks for sure but I see it winding down.

Haven't posted in awhile, check these out. Never found anything quite like this before and have been hunting quite a long time. Resembles Psilocybe subaeruginosa, curious to see what y'all think.

those convex edges with that umbo look so cool

i also found something interesting today, but less unusual than Rafiikii’s

I found 8 or 9 of these clusters and instantly thought of that awesome patch that ZenZone posted early on in the season

wish I’d gotten more/better pics. it was right in front of the entrance to a building and people kept coming out so I tried to be quick. Not anywhere as extensive or as awesome as the one ZenZone found, but still got a decent haul
