Maitake clone fail?
    #28601599 - 12/28/23 09:38 PM (30 days, 19 hours ago)

This is my first attempt at cloning and I'm not seeing what I would expect. It's just not spreading mycelium on the agar... These are maitake mushrooms from the grocery store. I did all the work in a still air box, took the samples from torn open part of the base of the mushroom. The agar is PDA. Cups are stored in the dark. Temps pretty steady between 70-72F. These cups are almost 2 weeks old now. Why are they not taking to the agar?  Mushrooms not fresh enough? Maitake doesn't like PDA agar? What do yall think?

the top pic looks good. Sheep head mycelium was kind of slow on agar for me too at first.

I'd transfer to a few different agar recipes and you'll likely find one that it grows well on 👍
