Is it legal to open carry a Mossberg Shockwave in Texas?

It's not a pistol or handgun because it doesn't have a pistol grip and it's not a shotgun because the barrel is less than 18in and has no stock, just a raptor grip. It's ATF classified as a "firearm" and doesn't require tax papers and it's designed to be shot from the waist, not the shoulder.
I bet it would look sexy as hell and badass to see someone open carrying a Mossberg shockwave.
So, is it legal or not to open carry this firearm in Texas? Argue away!

If you can you might have to have it on shoulder strap. In Ohio where used to live it worked that way there. If you walked around with it in your hand it could cause alarm with people thinking you're out to shoot people.

On the shoulder with a strap is what I was thinking. So do people in texas open carry because it looks sexy or because they're actually afraid of getting mugged or something?

I think it's just because they can along with thinking if they don't exercise that right it will go away. Also they are transporting it from one place to another.

Fuck if I know. But here's my uninformed take on it:
I'm guessing part of it just goes back to tradition. Texas was like the proto-wild-west at the time of its admission into the union- which it then seceded from not too long after. Between the frontier, the wars, crime, disputes, and just general farming/ranching life, there were a gazillion reasons to open-carry back then. Including simple convenience. And then they never really changed the laws all that much, and some people never changed their habits/preferences. Do something for long enough, and it just becomes part of your identity.
I have a friend who works in bars who told me that the Texas ATF, or liquor board, or whoever regulates liquor sales in the state, would show up at his bar in Austin in full fatigues with assault rifles on their chests. At a bar that was open for business and filled with customers. To check the tax seals on liquor bottles and other mundane shit like that.
When I was crossing a land border from Mexico into Brownsville a million years ago, the Border Patrol guy who interviewed me and inspected my bags asked me what I did for a living. When I said I was a teacher, he said he used to be one, too. When I asked him what happened, he said he didn't like the kids. But also added "plus, with this job, I get to carry a gun."
I really think some of it is just a fetish.

How it work here and as far as I can tell surprisingly this "firearm" might be legal here but I suspect the loophole it uses in the fact that it's not "shoulder fired" might make it infact illegal in my state specifically regarding its non shotgun classification. Regardless to that any "firearm" or even reasonably any armaments of any type could logically fall under laws regarding disrupting the peace with regard to bearing them in public. Essentially that would come down to you creating a public alarm based on basically the feelings and emotions of whomever was subject to such an act. So obviously that would subject one to a very vague and wide ranging liability to open carrying such a weapon even if it was both federally and locally legal. Maybe if one was to do it in an established and stated protest or show of rights that might be one thing or even doing so in public in a non menacing manner shoulder slung or what have you. But walking around into open for profit business where u cause disturbances or whatever or otherwise causing some time of alarm or "disturbance" in public is strictly illegal. Basically don't be an asshole or an idiot.

I think it would be cool if guns became part of fashion and people used a gun like a fashion accessory. Like sort of like how people wear a bag or certain shoes to accentuate their look.
I think if it's done the right way you can look really sexy open carrying a short barrel shotgun.

Open carry sword state:
*Just flying my dragon to the local walmart*
"Woah woah easy there deathadgrius!"
*Deathadrgius makes a sharp dive and lands into the pasture behind the Walmart*
"Don't worry I won't be long just need to get a couple things."
*dismounting the dragon the rattling of all the swords and guns on ptm sounding like a drawer full of loose silverware*
I'd basically always be weilding probably 2 big swords. 1 massive sword like a claymore. Then a couple little knives like a belt made of knives and bullets. Then id also have a couple assault rifles open carry style and then various small hand guns hidden and open carry on and throughout my person. I'd also have camo shorts that could expose my bulbous pasty white thighs, some Rayban knock off shades from the dollar tree, real tree crocs and a sweat band that just says "live love laugh." On it.

It's bullshit, man. I live in one of those libtard states where you're not allowed to have anything larger than a cutlass, but all the criminals are running around with Samurai swords and two-handed swords and shit. Plus, my neighbors called animal control on me because my dragon was tied up outside and torched their Boston terrier when it charged the fence. I'm about ready to move to Montana, they let you open-carry trebuchets pre-loaded with plague-ridden corpses there.
Oh, and I'm sick of all these people getting worked up over police slashings. It's not that hard. Just let them know you have a dagger under your seat, and slowly and calmly place it on the dashboard.

Yeah I would totally be down for watching a TV show that is like a fashion runway show but using guns as the main accessory to accentuate the designs.
Especially as a gay guy who is actually into fashion although I used to be way way more into fashion than I am now. But anyway, I'm picturing like a 60's mod looking female with black hair combed down covering one eye and she has a burgundy half trench coat with a matching burgundy hat. Not a fedora but something similar. Black fishnet stockings with black high heeled boots with an old time wooden shotgun over the shoulder with a strap. The dark color of the wood totally matching with the dark red burgundy.
Next thing you know will have Louis Vuitton and all the designers start making holsters and girdles and straps and such. Recoil straps and hand straps and stuff.

Should you? Absolutely not.
Open carry should be legal, I just think it shouldn't be done because what good does it do?
The guy open carrying I am shooting first because I know they are armed.
We're talking about open carrying like in the suburbs or in the city like the people I see open carrying just when I'm out and about running my errands at the store or whatever. If we were in a shit hits the fan scenario where I had to be armed even to just go out of my house then of course I would not want to be open carrying. But a short barrel shotgun like the Mossberg Shockwave would be a lot easier to conceal.

Solid choice
Been playing around with this combo a bunch lately. The people at the parking garage are not happy about it but I have been having the time of my life

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." You are God and I am You
