Leukemia drugs against aging: Is anyone here into Senolytics?
    #28598936 - 12/26/23 06:54 PM (1 month, 1 day ago)

Dasatinib + Quercetin
Rapamycin

Is anyone here into mopping up senescent cells?

About 20 pharma companies are trying to develop a blockbuster against aging.

Proactive medicine, biohacking..

Not at all elderly. 49 Days since I dosed. Only one dose at 200/2000 D/Q mg (176lb male). Late 50's. Very healthy. I've been on Rapamycin and Metformin for 29 months.

Objective: About a 10% increase in HRV. About 4-6% increase in power (Cycling power meter). A dramatic increase in balance, at least 5X longer time on balance board and I can hula hoop at least 10x longer. ( I don't HH much but I thought I'd try it again after my balance board results) Quick recovery from hard efforts during rides and dramatically lower fatigue after workouts. 8% increase in grip strength. All that within days of dosing. Steady since then.

Subjective: General feeling of more energy and optimism. My mind feels quicker at work and home but especially at work. I make fewer mistakes and a general feeling of less brain fog for lack of a better term. Scrapped any ideas of early retirement. I don't want to run out of money and I'm more skeptical than ever that current retirement plans are ready for what's coming. Worse (Oura ring) sleep but I can't figure out if it's related.

I seem to have better results then anyone I've heard from and I don't know why. I tried very high dose Fisetin in January and felt nothing so I doubt placebo is having much bearing but you never know with N=1. Doing more detailed testing with BP and reaction time before I dose again.

anyone into this field or studying it?

I dabble, but mostly stick to reading research articles, I'm not in a hurry to suffer the side effects most senolytic agents can carry for hypothesized benefits. I honestly purposely avoid the communities dedicated to nootropics, elongating life, etc because of things like the anecdote you posted. Except when it comes to sourcing, comparing brands, finding good prices.

You don't want to experience placebo effects because other peoples. And there's just no real substitute to controlled experiments, peer review, repeated results. But I get the draw, considering it's the only way you get to get any insight into in vivo effects in humans in most cases.

Though I've taken fisetin supplements on an off.

I'd be wary of any claims that you feel better or have increased performance from them, especially ones used for chemotherapy.

At best I would think you'd age a little better, have more protection against degenerative disease, maybe it takes a little longer for your mind to go. There's no reason to think they're going to make you stronger or faster without training. And if you are training you can chalk any improvements up to that, not killing off old cells. More about preventing decline, than turning back the clock.
