Seems like it might be a decent year. I saw a patch that didn’t produce many cyans last year, and as of this morning, it’s teeming with life and has dozens of pins pushing up. 🙏

I haven't been having luck in central SF this year despite all these great pics! None of the spots (over multiple parks) where Ive previously found them have had any although I find disturbed mycelium, so it seems others are finding them first. Hopefully I can find some although Ive never been the lucky one to find a huge patch, so here's hoping for a Christmas miracle

Still plenty of time. A lot of patches haven’t even flushed yet. A flush is underway at the moment though. If we get some more rain in the next week or so, it should pop off. Ca is good until at least mid January for actives.

Thanks for the reassurance! I’m hoping to get out there this weekend as it’s hard to do in the dark after work. I’ve definitely stumbled on some spots that clearly had mycelium disturbed so sometimes it’s just the luck of who’s there first. Regardless I always enjoy the hide and seek game of finding any type of mushroom, spore printing, and identifying. Shaggy parasols have been popping up a lot! I had some unexpected good news this morning though so maybe my luck is turning 🤭

this allenii patch was already pinning well before the recent rains so i went to go harvest
then this patch was right next to my car door where I parked. I thought it was hypholoma at first glance, but on closer inspection turned out to be a young Allenii patch, a bit wind bruised and dried. I would normally leave these to mature but it was a sun-exposed patch in a place where kids play sometimes, so i decided to grab them before they get trampled or dried out

Been kinda out of the game for the last few years, but have been going out to some of my many old spots recently. Haven't had any luck yet. Either the spots are depleted or have totally different landscaping... Good to see some people are finding them though. Gives me hope . Anyone on here with a location/spot that still produces years later?

I bet they’re still around, even if the patches you found got burned out. Try searching other areas around the areas you used to hunt. Especially in areas of high foot traffic these things get spread around quite a lot. Conditions aren’t great at the moment. We got enough rain to get things going, but not enough to get explosive growth. Hopefully we can get some good rain over the next couple weeks and we can get a good January haul going.

I just landed in the bay, here for another four days. Hoping I can go picking in that time but seems I'm a bit in between.
Although the dew has been so thick in the morning it almost feels like it's rained each day so I'm hoping I can take a little drive and check my spots.

Yeah, you guys get more fog over there in the bay than we do in the valley. Conditions could be better over there right now.

2 years ago this spot produced a very large flush. Last year just a few fruits. Now it looks like it may go big again. The cyans from this spot were wicked strong.
Some pins.

Here at the coast the ground has remained damp even though there hasn’t really been that much rain. It’s still very much going on but limited to shady spots with ground cover. Unless you are bush-lurker and they seem to pop up everywhere you go. Just a little jealous of those big Allenii hauls. No complaints here though as I’ve already doubled what I found last year.
