An inner conversation on DPT
    #2859600 - 07/05/04 08:54 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I recently tripped on DPT. As I started peaking, I saw a light, and felt myself wrapped in its loving glow. I felt at peace and at one with God. I came to realize that we are eternal beings and that life and death are both merely illusions.

Or did I? As I came down, it started occurring to me that this was a mere matter of a chemical similar to DMT acting on my brain. And since DMT is released in your brain at death, this must explain near-death experiences. So those aren't really scientifically valid experiences. So for all I know, there is a very real possibility of nothingness after death.

So which is it? Is this an illusion, or is death an illusion? Are they both illusions? Does some part of me survive after death, or is that it for me?

Then, the most profound answer dawned on me: It doesn't matter. None of this matters in the end. If I disappear after death, then I will not be around to be saddenned by it. If I live forever in some form, I'll know about it then. All that matters--all that is important--is this moment. For it is time that is the illusion. It's silly to worry about a future that never comes. Be happy NOW. Be confident NOW. Live life to the fullest NOW.

I too have had psychedelic experiences where I was POSITIVE that my soul is eternal and the idea of "nothingness" after death was laughable. But then after coming down I second guess what I believed to be fact just hours previous to that. Like you, I have reached the same conclusion that it doesn't matter. Like you said, if there is nothing after I die then I'm not gonna give two shits. It is scary however even trying to comprehend nothingness because we are so used to there always being something. If I really try to meditate on the idea of nothing I can almost grasp it but not quite. And like you said, all you can do is live for the now.

I like to think of the concept of death as more of a kind of beggining with potential for something new, rather than a complete end. I also agree it shouldn't really matter to us here in this stage, as we already have our own shit to worry about. I haven't done DPT, but DMT was almost like a kind of wake up call suggesting to me that there IS without question much more to life, death and reality in general than conventional thinking has seemed to set the stage for.

When my mind gets a racing on mushrooms they tend to give me thoughts heavily about what happens when i die, and saddly the best conclusion ive been able to come up with in nothing. Till more evidence can prove otherwise.

If you are dead, and there is something after this, you can't change your life anymore. Could be some kind of bad awakening if you didn't care :tongue2:

Student to a Zen teacher: 'What happens when we die?'
Zen teacher: 'I don' know.'
Student: 'But you're a Zen master.'
Zen teacher: 'Yeah, but not a DEAD one!'

How many milligrams? And how was the burn? How long did it last?

Sorry... I'm just curious about this one.

Not sure of the exact dosage. All I know is it was one hell of a rail. Yes it burned. It lasted like 3 or 4 hours.

Has it occurred to you that Being is immortal and the Self/ego is merely limited to a finite existence? So, in essence, no one dies, but their conceptualized identity does. There is only One and it is infinite.
