Psychoactive algae?
    #2859497 - 07/05/04 08:07 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I'm thinking about doing a Spirulina grow. A freind of mine said he got a speedy buzz once from some Blue-green Algae. has anyone else had such an experience?

Could it have been a contaminated batch?

Actually, it's very easy to isolate a super producing sclerotia strain.

Follow the strain isolation technique on Let's Grow Mushrooms, and then select sectors early which are brown in color.  By the second or third transfer, you'll see stones developing, and this is only about 1 month after the original swipe of spores on agar.

Now, take each stone and move it to a new dish.  Soon, the mycelium will grow out and you'll see fresh stones developing, and if they're good strains, the sclerotia is forming long before the mycelium reaches the edge of the plate.  Pick strains which form four or five stones within two weeks and use these for your grain masters.

I personally dont think Spirulina has any mild altering affects but it is fucking great for your body.

What about club moss? Is that considered an algae?

no club moss isnt algae its evolved algae

and spirulina just has alot of minerals. kinda like a super multivitamin. and as it is a algae it is very premative and will be low on teh old alkaloid scale.

I bought some oyster shell calcium a few years back and I swear it gave me a buzz. I gave some to my cousin and she said the same thing. When I went back and got more, it didn't give a buzz any more. Maybe the drug fairy put goodies in certain bottles?

Maybe some of this shit has neurotoxic contaminants.

Well calcium is thought to have sedative effects. Hence the sleepy properties of pertrified horse teeth.

haha yeah, this does sort of remind me of the rock thread. I have been reading up on a bunch of homeopathic uses for minerals and such. I personally think its all hogwash but its still interesting to know , (to know people are so gullible... heh)

Michael Smith of the University of Natal, Pretoria, South Africa published a paper on theree varieties of edible seaweed discovered off the coast of Madagascar, Africa which contain DMT.

I have the article at home but will not be there for awhile. IF you can remember to write me around the first of November, I would be happy to post the paper. Unless you can find it in a U library somewhere.
