That's psilocybe cubensis Very cool strain, never seen them looking like this before. Nice find!

First time ever I've heard about P. cubensis growing in Perth. Even growing in wood chips? Might be an escaped cultivar. Perhaps someone ditched their spent or contaminated cakes there.

Bingo!
I did dispose of some old substrate over 6 months ago into the garden. I didn't want to bias the ID with that information though. I also didn't think it would of still produced after this time.

There you go! I think it'd be strange If cubensis didn't grow in Western Australia. Should be warm enough. Never found any in the wild?

Never seized the opportunity.
I know of a lot of people East of Perth in the 'hills' - ¬35kms that regularly commented on having actives on their properties.
I'm North 40kms of the CBD & Coastal. Currently getting mid 35°C temps with no rain. That spot though was well shaded and has the luxury of getting the morning sprinklers.

Species reported from WA are P. subaeruginosa and P. alutacea, so I reckon one of those are the ones they're finding in the east of Perth. Most likely the former.
There's probably a reason (or several) P. cubensis isn't a regular there. Many places appear to be suitable for it, yet it doesn't occur there.
The mushrooms must know something that we don't.
