If I really struggle and see I am going into a deep depression. I will do things to force happy chemicals.

Exercise.
Multiple orgasms.
Start doing little things that I know make me happy.
Go outside.
Go for a drive.
Spend time alone.

It's true.
When I was in my 20's I got in a deep deep depression and I have found ways that work for me.
I am aware I am capable of going there. So I stop it before I lose my grip.
People recommend lots of things, but you learn what works for you.
When I get deeply depressed I can not function. I cannot do things to get myself out. I am immoblized by it. Handicapped.
It was awful.
But, I don't forget it. I dont want to forget where I was.
That was 30 years ago...

There are certain falsities that can be reasonably discarded "I'm a loser", "Nothing is ever going to change or get better", "life sucks". etc. I suggest discarding such notions as they arise. There need be no opposite or positive thought to replace it, no arguing against that voice to prove it wrong. Silence will do.

I think also that expectations can be a bit lofty. Those who dare win, but they also lose. Nothing inherently wrong with adjusting expectations to something that produces more confidence in outcomes, less stress, etc. This can always be adjusted further down the road. That being said, it's not my job to tell someone else what they're capable or not capable of or how much stress they should be okay with.

Beyond that, there is great potential in eating healthy, getting plenty of sleep and plenty of exercise. Those things have direct and intimate associations with mood and biochemistry. Social contact, both mental and physical also have regulating effects on one's state of mind.

Liberally apply a concentrated combo of salt, sweetness, smoke, and spices, depending on your tastes and constitution.

Most people find me odd when they meet me, so they treat me like there is something wrong with me. I know this, and they think I don't, so I'll even slip from anxiety and feed their confirmation bias against me, and this makes it even worse, so I have given up really. I try to just make jokes, but like for instance just now.. at work.. I know three people were talking shit about me. Nothing new. I can read it on their expressions and their body language, and they even gestured to one another... as if I didn't see. I know how it is. People are not very nice. Fuck it. I was sad for about an hour. I'm still sad about it, because well, a number of things. It just triggered a spiral of negative silence to myself. But whatever. How do you remain okay? How do you beat the blues? Look for the Blue Light? I don't know. I'll smoke some weed when I get off. Often I try to just hear music in my head, and let that drown out my thoughts. I make Latin sentences in my head. Look to what interests you, and laugh and smile to yourself (just not too often in front of people or they will think you are weird), because you matter, and you have to keep thinking, regardless of how hard it is, that you actually do have worth.

I used to be very sensitive to other people's opinion of me. I think part of the change is just from being older. Old people don't give a fuck... which I know isn't really true but time changes things with experience.

I also credit meditation which I did a lot of between the ages of 31-37. There was a satori that sparked the whole thing off but most of the "work" was done in the following years. People tend to think of meditation as harmonious which is what it leads to hopefully but my first year of meditating I would characterize primarily as 45 minutes a day of staring down various experiences and my reaction to them at the time, basically reliving every nightmare of my youth.

"Suck it up" - a crass invitation to be less sensitive, or a simple road map? I think it can be colored by the spirit in which it's said but it's the etymological origin that I find interesting. Perhaps a better way to offer the same advice is "breathe it up".

What perturbed me earlier and is what usually does. It isn't my pride.. It's knowing the reason why they are saying it, often from the expressions they may have about what they are saying, and I totally understand it. I make fun of myself a lot. My husband and I have exposed everything about each each other, all our insecurities, and it's all trivial at this point. I know how I may appear, but it is really not the truth. I am truly very easy going but I get very nervous and highly aware around other people. I can sense when someone is distressed or... many things and it is very distracting, because I tend to honestly be lost in thought all day long.

I know what you’re talking about Blue Lux. This type of worrying about what people were saying and what people thought of me used to torture me at work every day for years.

One thing that helped me was to remember that people really aren’t thinking about you or talking about you as much as you think. Everyone is the main character of their own story and they spend most of their time thinking about themselves rather than any one person in particular.
And it also doesn’t matter so much what they think at any one moment, what matters more is reputation over time.

I also smoked weed every day at the time I was really struggling with this, and I found out the hard way that weed is a real menace when it comes to the struggles of overthinking things. When I stopped smoking weed i found it orders of magnitude easier to not give a shit if people were talking about me or not.

Yes, I am aware. I don't get high at work. Call it personal criticism and a small wish to be completely different.

Yeah I didn’t get high at work either. It affects your mind during the time you’re sober as well. I was just a nightly smoker… took me a long time to realise the after effects of getting stoned every night was having a very negative impact on my mind every day.

I can only speak for myself. Others have told me they’ve experienced the same thing though.

Years of forced introspection from weed in addition to the way it clouds your judgement can precipitate some strange and unhealthy ways of dealing with every day stressors.

I hope you’re doing better now anyway 😊 work colleagues can be absolute asshats.

I agree. I must admit I smoke small amounts of cannabis now, although I love it still. I like pinene, myrcene, limonene, linalool, beta caryophyllene strains. I can only tolerate about half a bowl from a pipe now. I used to smoke multiple gram blunts daily, for over a year. I actually smoked weed every single day almost all day for a year and a half. As in, multiple times a day. Not one day did I not smoke. It definitely does something with your dreams too. It makes me rarely have dreams if I am doing a lot of cannabis. There is also a haze, but I am also able to be more thoughtful in my own endeavors from cannabis. I was taking lots of dabs at one point too. Cannabis is good for some other things too but I don't need much now, and I don't use it in the same way. My husband and I smoke on nature trails, or in nature somewhere. We smoked in a cave. I actually have fewer nightmares if I am smoking weed.

Those terpenes are good for me. Other terpenes, not so much, so I avoid those. For example. Not all strains have these terpenes, so you can get a hybrid or actually mix two, like for me mac stomper with 9 lb hammer, either as dabs together, or mixed together in a joint. I have an idea if it won't be taken, but I don't care, because I'll do my own version of it eventually anyway, if I am lucky to live to that day, of 9lb hammer and cherry ak 47, for exactly this reason, the ideal mix of terpenes. There are plenty of strains with pinene and myrcene, and etc. but those exact strains are the best for me, as they have found other contributing factors other than terpenes and THC and other cannabinoids.

I personally gravitate towards odd, different, unique people.. I find that I gain something from them. A unique perspective on life, people, etc.
Majority of us have or are them.
I have a brother I just saw. Complete loner, not by choice. His interests are different then most. And he greatly lacks social skills. And an inability to conform in groups.
He is so amazing.
My friend passed away from alcohol and it destroyed me. I was in a deep depression. I couldn't shake it.
I would ask him to just come over because his presence was calming to me. Some people have a light about them. But you have to look.
It hurts being rejected. Everyone hurts to different degrees from it.
Loving yourself helps and for some people the biggest challenge they have in life.
Hang onto who you are. Your authentic self.
Not everyone should be allowed to see it.
But the ones that so- will appreciate it. Appreciate you. We all have great things about us.
They are right about weed. It's a temporary solution that creates a rebound effect.
If you choose to use it just be aware.
If it is your only joy in life- question that.
You will be as ok as you choose to be.
And your co workers
Fuck em
Being a shitty person is foul. Be glad you're not making someone else feel shitty
Fuck em
Do you
