Teachers union endorsing Kerry? How unexpected!

Yep,  It seems like Bush's lies about the benefits of "No Child Left Behind" are biting him in the A$$.  It would have been a great program if he had not underfunded the program and spent the money on his  goal as a war monger and an oil hungry liar :rotfl:

Yet another example of something the Feds shouldn't be involved in.

The NEA represents teachers, not students. Interesting quote from the article,(I paraphrase, maybe) "25% of teachers identify themselves as Republicans yet the NEA has never endorsed a Republican candidate and 9 out of 10 campaign contributions are given to Democrats." I wonder how they, the 25%, feel about how their union dues are used. It's certainly no surpise that the NEA would want to oust a president who feels they should be accountable for their job performance, while their whole raison d'etre is to protect their members' job security. It would not be a bad idea to automaticly fire the lowest 5% of teachers every year. Maybe they should move on and find a career they can do and not fuck up our kids any more

^^^^Exactly

After that teacher in LA whose name escapes now was so succesful with all those students who were in gangs but still managed to graduate with honors, the NEA actually began to lean on this guy because he was making all the other teachers "look bad."

Once they finally got him to quit, they actually sent out an email with the subject line "HE'S OUT!" or something to that nature.

fft2 - You actually think this is Bush's fault?!?

Unions support democrats because democrats have always been for the working man; not the golf playing yacht owning caviar eating man which is represented by the republican party.

Not all teachers are in the union. So even though 25% of teachers may be republicans, 25% of union members may not necessarily be republican.

The article said 25% of the UNION MEMBERS were Republican. Unions support Democrats because they both stand for cover-your-ass unaccountability and protect the incompetent from their own failures at the expense of successful people.

What really cracks me up about some of the people who support this and other unions is that they bitch and moan about how corporations and big business are so evil and out to enslave everyone. What's the difference between that and unions?

I wonder....if a company is not allowed to monopolize goods, why are unions allowed to monopolize labor?

Of course reality is somewhere in between, there are legal monopolies and many workers arnt union....

Zapp it does not say that anywhere in the link fft2 posted.

Hag, the reason I support unions is that they are the only thing keeping corporations in check. We wouldn't have any of the basic work conditions we have now if it weren't for unions. 40 hour work week, paid sick time, and overtime are just a couple examples. Unions like everything do have their share of fuckups like insanely high dues.
