I prefer reading fiction. I’ve been reading nothing but scientific documents.
Trying to get this whole mushroom thing going!

I read the title of the thread and thought to myself.
"Words mostly but sometimes people..."

I'm not sure how to answer the poll.

Near me at the moment are books like Howl's Moving Castle, 777 And Other Qabalistic Writings of Aleister Crowley, Essential Cell Biology third edition published by Garland Science, The Mahabharata and The Tao Teh Ching translated by John C. H. Wu.

These are all books I read and enjoy but my preferred books among them are the last two I mentioned. If there was a sacred text or scripture option I would have selected that one.

I was given this as a gift. So I feel obligated to read it. I haven’t started it yet though.

That bell hooks book has been resurfacing lately

Imo hooks is pure trash. The only people I see who recommend that book are mindless libs (generally young college students who study the soft sciences like sociology).

I'm not saying don't read it

I'm just saying I ain't afraid to dismiss it. And generally people who read it are so close minded that they can't fathom that.
Haha

A lot of people don’t like Stephen King. Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy some of his work. Please just try to keep your criticisms relegated to the book. Even the author. But not the people that read it.

No but you pulled a memory out of the archive of an old DAC that recommended it to me.

Going to have to now

I haven’t had the opportunity. Sounds interesting. Didn’t they make a movie of it?

Did they?

Hmmm.

Evidently they did.
It made 1.5 million dollars!
And yet the book is one of the best selling books of all time.

That's amusing.

When I read it, the book was pretty new. The author presented it as non-fiction and it wasn't till a few years later that the truth of it, that it was fiction, became more clear.

Same, my grandpa got the newspaper. So I almost didn’t have a choice. I became a fan of some comics.
I also am quite a big fan of Calvin and Hobbs.
