I couldn’t find a PNW edibles thread so I decided to make one!
Post your edible finds here
Preferably with a general elevation and environment type, or more if you want to share more. I’ll start it off.

King bolete and golden chantrelle, found on the central Oregon coast @ 75-125ft elevation.
Second growth Sitka spruce forest with lots of Oregon grape, pine needle, sword ferns, and moss ground covering. Shaded Moderate slopes, and very partially shaded moss covered small valleys.
Soil PH 6.8-7.5, soil temp 55f, moist but well drained soil. 75% air humidity, 62f air temp.

Unbelievable coastal porcini flush. Picked this with 2 other in 2.5 hours. Set for a few years on dried stock now haha.

Shaggy parasols! Was not expecting to find this many, hence the overflowing basket. :^D

How do you enjoy your parasols ?
I have 8-10 on my property that size and found a huge patch in town today I cut one up and fried it up hot with some shallots last year and remember it not being very “meaty” and mostly big gills ( thou it was chanterelle season so I was spoiled) Do they put up well ? Like dehydrated?

Micolash said: For the larger, flatter ones, I like to remove the stems and then pan-fry them in butter as a sort of “patty” for sandwiches (not vegetarian, I just love mushrooms) and they make a nice add-in for soups and gravies! I’ve tried drying them before; they were not necessarily “cracker dry” after going through my usual drying process, but they did keep well. Good find! And good hunting to you.
Hey hey thanks mr. Sent a pm ….
