Habitat: I found these growing in a mulch bed at a park overlooking the ocean in northwest Washington State. Snohomish county.
Gills: Light brown almost gray with dark spots, probably the spores. About every other one goes all the way to stipe.
Stem: About 2-3" tall and about 1/8th-1/4" diameter pretty consistent width, slightly larger at base on one. Fibrous, not hollow. Sturdy.
Cap: About 2" in diameter. Same light brown/gray color as stem and gills. Sleight nipple. Edges curl up in maturity. Smooth and rubbery with a gentle waviness. Easily breaks. No membrane. Barely noticable sparkle under bright light.
Spore print color: Black with very sleight purple/red undertones.
Bruising: No noticable bruising after several hours. When I flicked it to cause bruising, the cap split in half.
Other information: Mostly odorless. Broken cap has metallic smell.

Maybe Psathyrella? Not active for certain, wait for a trusted identifier.

Yeah, I have 0 luck finding actives. I've been hunting for months, every chance I get, but seem to come up empty handed every time. I've used the inaturalist map to check out "hotspots" from Astoria OR all the way up the coast to Snohomish WA but never found anything. I find TONS of galerina (I'm guessing because brown spore print) but no actives and I think the season is coming to an end pretty soon... 😭 I know they're out there, but where??? I've checked pastures for Lib's, Beach grass for Azures and mulch beds for cyans. Nothing. Kinda starting to feel like a hopeless waste of time... Very discouraged. Any help would be appreciated.

I’m not from the USA, but from what I see on here I think it’s probably a waste of time looking for Psilocybe semilanceata… I don’t believe they’re very common but I could be wrong.
I think wood chip garden beds for cyans/ovoids/stuntzii and maybe forests for ovoids… ovoids seem to be a pretty common find on here when the season for them gets going.
Someone more knowledgeable will probably chime in soon. Main thing is to keep looking.
Make sure never to go out when it’s been dry… always go out after the hunting area has had at least a couple of consecutive days of good rain, and go out on the third or fourth day after the start of the rain. Also make sure that the temperatures are prime for the species that you’re looking for. And I think ovoids have a preferred type of forest tree… not sure

Yeah I went to college in washington. At this time of the year psychedelic mushrooms grew at almost every single park and business complex in my town. We found so many we couldn't dry them in time in our old musty house.
Keep to searching those sorts of areas and you'll find them real quick. Just gotta keep at it, reference inaturalist and mushroom observer, be respectful and thoughtful and patient.
