First time hunting (West Palm, FL)
    #2858523 - 07/05/04 12:35 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Yesterday was my first time hunting. It had rained the night before so we went out to some cow fields. We found some mushrooms and thought they were Cubes. But when we took them to my friends house she told us that they were not cubes, and were probably posionous. They looked exactly like all the cubes I have seen online, they were just smaller and did not bruise blue.

I'm glad that we showed the girl the shrooms cuz the 5 of us could of ended up very very sick.

Anyone else live around West Palm?

Because no one posted to my original post. I guess my real question is. What other mushrooms grow out of cow manure that look alot like Cubes? The mushrooms we found were smaller than the ones I have seen online. They had the golden look to them. But they didnt bruise blue...

What could I have found?

Are you shrooming right now? I have never shroomed before and I wanna try it very badly. It rained tonight so i might go look in the morning for some cubes.

Don't post for partners, use pm's. And please get a decent post count first so you don't look like a cop.

Next time, give the shrooms a little pinch and wait about 4 hours or overnite and see if they bruise. Proper ID's can be tricky. I'm not saying the girl might be wrong though...I'm just saying...

Heh im 19 so Im hardly a cop....

Oh I thought bruising takes about 10 mins or even less time. I dunno the stems looked a lot smaller than the ones I saw in pictures. Oh well I'll see if tonights rain bring anything tomorrow.

She was a hippy chick and her mom taught her everything to know about mushrooms. Unfortunatley her mom wasn't home to give us a proper ID.

What color were the gills? Did you get spore prints and if so what did they look like? These are all questions to consider when trying to identify your mushrooms. For instance, mushrooms in the Galerina family (poisonous!) often look like cubes when you're viewing the top of their caps, due to the caramel coloration, but their gills are pale instead of dark grey, which is a dead (haha) give-away. If you really want to identify those mushrooms I suggest you take a spore print, maybe post some pics on this site, and we can try to help ya out.

I'm Addressing a SERIOUS problem here. Not to flame you individually, but the next person that asks for an ID without at least a LITTLE of the information REQUIRED REQUIRED REQUIRED to make a POSITIVE ID, I will find where they live, kill them, and use your body decay to grow B+ out of. Post the information REQUIRED REQUIRED REQUIRED to give a POSITIVE ID, and i`ll tell you what I have but i'm not interested in helping anyone who doesn't do the minimum

LthirdSeyeD, have you checked your pm's?

And ignore the people who can't seem to post productively please. You'll only get an argument started. Take it to OTD!

Mr. OuchITripped- This is the second time (if I remember correctly) that I have seen you adress someone with a blatant lack of respect and threaten and be a jerk. I am totally unsure why no mod has warned you as to the inflamitory nature of your ridiculous statements. I do not know why you think yourself such a shroom wizard, but you have not yet proven this, are currently unrated (until I get done posting this) and I hope you can learn that while people do not do a good job posting here the first time they do post, you are not allowed to flame or threaten them especially to your hearts content. That Dallas attitude is pissing me off and I'm quite sure others as well so try your hardest to let these things fly and make some decent posts and give some decent ids and you will be respected and remembered and not looked upon as a trolling flamer.

Sorry to correct you here, but that is not a Dallas attitude. It is an OuchITripped attitude. There are lots of great people on here from Dallas and his attitude is no indicative of the people in Dallas.
