Artemisia questions
    #2858407 - 07/05/04 11:45 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Does anybody know what the thujone content of "Artemisia ponica" is like?? Can absinthe be made from this species alone??
Also, i know that their is "Artemisia "Lambrook silver", A species of artemisia absinthium but is their also "Lambrook mist"??
The reason is that i just purchased 3 artemisia ponicas and 2 artemisia lambrook mists, all of which i`m hoping to make absinthe out of.
Also can you give me how much gram of each need soaking and for how long.

I think you mean Artemisia pontica.

Roman wormwood (Artemesia pontica) is a flavouring ingredient that contains thujone used in the alcoholic drink absinthe. Although used in absinthe (thujone), purified wormwood is a neurotoxin.

Try using google. There is a lot of information on Artemisia. But i would just go with Artemisia absinthum. This one is not so hard to find, and it's quit cheap

Artemisia's have many good uses aside from utilizing their thujone content.. .I use Mugwort and Artemisia ludoviciana for smudging. Some who attended the gathering in Ohio last year may recall the lovely sacred smell of my Artemisia bundles that covered up the smell of puke in what we coined "The Town Dump".

In one of my books on the blackfoot tribe and their power plants the author mentions making speghetti with mugwort for him and his friends and it resulting in a drunken feeling as though "they had consumed several glasses of wine."
