your grafted peyote needs the trichocerus pup removed or it will eventually lead to peyote dying or failing to thrive.

The 2 pots on the right are grafted onto zelly x collosus seedlings. The 2 pots on the left are grafted onto etiolated pachs
The bottom one is grafted onto jiimz bridgesii. The one in the back has had problems with rot needing a regraft, and then moving to new rootstock with part of the old rootstock, giving it that flower look
The ones in the front may be fricii, some of the grafts above may be fricii, idk. The little ones in the back are the roots from the grafts pupping
These are in a 100% mineral mix of pumice and lava rocks. They have not done much and are corking
These are in 50% perlite and 50% black kow, they are doing very well. They looked like the ones in the 100% mineral substrate but as soon as they got in the soil they blew up, one of them significantly doubling in size and becoming more round

If you use 100% mineral mix you need to fertilise frequently, some growers fertilise with every watering using a very dilute liquid feed.
The other thing to keep in mind is that with a 100% mineral mix the fertiliser you use should also have a chelating agent included, EDTA is commonly used.
The third thing to think about is the form of nitrogen in the fertiliser, it should be bioavailable to your cactus rather than in a form that soil bacteria use to convert into another form. Because in a 100% mineral mix these soil bacteria will be absent.

Aren't there specific kinds of bacteria that aid stone eaters in breaking down minerals? I thought there was some kind symbiotic relationship going on. I personally use 90% mineral and the rest a mix of soil and worm castings.
Can I use EDTA sold as a supplement? What product should I look for?

Look for something like Peters Professional 15-10-30+TE. And I made a mistake with the chelating agent, M-77 is what I was thinking of not EDTA. M-77 is in the Peters Professional product. Humic acid also has chelating properties and is found in soils with organic matter as well as in some organic liquid fertilizers.

I use 100% gravel. The gravel is granite chips like in driveways. I fertilize 2-3 times a year during spring and summer.

I’m using about 30% ferrous and 30% non ferrous (forgot the term haha) rocks I harvested from my local beach, smashed into smaller bits in situ. Rough ID based on color. 30% lava stone and 10% basic ass potting soil. Great results so far. Always use distilled water to absorb as much from the substrate as possible. Haven’t fertilized yet but local seaweed tea will be what I use this coming season.
Size difference between the two on the left due to positioning relative to light. Roughly 1 year old.

They're going to be very slow growing with 100% gravel, more ideal would be something that has some water-retentive capacity. You could add vermiculite and/or perlite which should help.

Im going to go get supplies for repotting my guys.
What exactly should the new potting mix contain?
Im thinking something like this.
Small amount of peat or coir, some gravel and course crushed stone / sand , perlite, glacial rock dust.
Or instead of peat coir just use a generic store bought cactus mix?
what do yall think?

20% organic and 80% mineral should work.

I would repot it, very gentley shake off all the soil from the roots and repot into dry mix, checking for wet and rotten roots and nasty stuff.
