Can you take a look at theese jars ?
    #2858115 - 07/05/04 04:01 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

What do you think ? The vermicuite is mini size ( 0.1-0-3 cm ) and the prepared PF substrate is a bit sticky and wet ( when i squeze it , no water comes out , so its enough humid )

What do you think about them ?

This is my first time actually with PF tek becose i never could get vermiculite before ...

I think they would look better with mycelium growing in them.  I've never used the tinfoil lids myself, but lots of people love them.  Good luck!

They look ok. When did you inoculate them?

i didn't inoculate them jet , i didn't even sterilize them . I just wanted to check if they look ok . This is my first time using vermiculite , so i wasn't sure if they were ok ...

They looked a bit slimy and sticky , but after first sterilization ( im using the fractional sterilization method ) it got better and i think it should be ok...

Il inoculate them for 2 days , after the fract. ster. process ...

How long do your jars take to colonize 100 % ? Theese are 240 ml ...

depends on tones of things, its not possible to say...
It depends on how warm you'll be storing them and how tightly you packed the substrate into the jars and also on the mixture you used

AFOAF started 12 jars 14 days ago.

3 are 95% colonized
6 are between 25% and 80%
2 are at 1%
and 1 has done nothing!

So it varies quite a bit even with in the same jar set.

Ok ... Im just asking becose im going in 30 days on Adriatic see so i hope they will colonize a bit faster ...

The jars are going to be in a incubator at a constant temperature of 26-27 C degrees . I don't need to worry about humidity ( not jet  and the strain is EQ ( i heard that it colonizes even faster than other strains ... ) . So i think this could be relative optimal conditions ...

If you want fast colonization, use the karo tek and WBS or another grain. When it's shot full of a bunch of myc and properly incubated, you get growth that can only be described as explosive.

Wow , im realy suprised . Yesterday i noticed few little spots of mycelium , today theese little spots growed much larger ( every spot got bigger for a few cm2 ) if it continues to grow at this speed i could have 100% in maximum 10 days ...

ps. none of the jars got contaminated ( jet  , ill post some pics in a few days to show you my stuff ...

yeah, that's normal... they'll continue at that speed for a couple days, then they'll appear to slow down.

As i promised , here are some pics of my best jar . It is about 60-70 % colonized . All of the jars are not contaminated and all are mostly between 40-70% colonized .

This is day 6 after inoculation ...

The temperature is optimal for mycelium growth( 26-28 C degrees ) , so i think they need about a week to get 100 % ( what do you think ? )

Ill post later pics when they get 100 % colonized ...

ps. the darker spot on the bottom to the right is not contamination , the camera made it look a bit darker ...

Yeah, looks like about a week left to me. Although, it looks like the bottom of your jars are cooked. That part may not colonize.

hm ... if it is cooked as you say ( just the bottom ) , the cake should produce fruits anyway . It should be just 1/6 of the cake that won't colonize ( as you said ) so i think it won't matter , the only problem there could be is that the cake procudes less fruits , am i right ?

Here is a pic from one of the cakes ... This is my first time birthing PF tek cakes ( couldnt get any vermiculite before  ) so i still dont know how should primordia look on cakes ...

You can see the top of the cake, sinse i birthed the cakes nothing has changed except this little knots that started to form on top of the cake, are pins later going to form from it ?
Sorry for my stupid questions, but this is my first time with PF tek ...

Cool, man. Those are hyphal knots, and yes, many will turn to pins in a couple days. Looks like you could have some goodness soon!

Great ! Fruiting conditions are optimal - Humidity 97%-100%, temperature day-max 24 C degrees, night-about 19 C degrees, cakes get about 14 hours of light every day and i change the air in there every few hours ... I think theese are the perfect conditions .

So in a few days there should allready be pins ? Great m8 ...

Is it normal that most of theese knots are forming on top of the cake ? There are some around cakes too, but mostly on the top ? ...

Yeah, it's perfectly normal for them to sometimes only form on the top. Sometimes they pick the bottom to grow on, sometimes the top, and sometimes all over.

Here are some pics -
here you can see first pins

And here you can see my first shrooms, they started a little earlyer than the other ones so i picked them today and let other shrooms to still grow... I think i will probably store them in the fridge and wait for other shrooms to grow ...

One more time, thanks everyone who helped in my growth !!!
