I came across something interesting - right in my own neighborhood... I think this is a rare (for areas north of California at least) Waxy Cap. It's lovely - red, fading to yellow. I think this is Hygrocybe fenestrata (the top one at least). The far more common slimy wax cap Hygrocybe psittacina is quite differently colored. This was growing on a bank of someone's yard, right next to the sidewalk in the city - pretty cool.

I'm most familiar with the species found in the Pacific Northwest - those found in other parts of the world may vary considerably, so always do your own research to find out what grows in your area and what lookalikes you need to be aware of. Understand that many mushroom species cannot be 100% reliably identified by photographs alone, even by an expert, so it may not be possible to go beyond suggesting a probable genus.

Very nice looking. And wow, is this your sire? https://www.jungledragon.com/image/155906/red_waxies.html
Got that as top hit when googling H. fenestrata, which I'd never heard of before. Gorgeous pictures!

I have an account over at Jungle Dragon ( https://www.jungledragon.com/user/1590/morpheme.html ) but the site was developed and is run by a fellow over in the Netherlands, Ferdy Christant, who was dissatisfied with other natural sciences web sites like Project Noah and INaturalist.. He wanted a web site that not only provides citizen science data, but emphasizes and places beautiful images in the forefront.. He's got some sort of IT job in his working life, so he developed his own.
