Heyowana said: It's an interesting area for potent cactus. I make comparisons between Icaros DNA peruvianus and Matucana pachanoi because the same supplier sent them to the vendor I purchased Icaros and Mp from.
After all the wet weather for the last three months I am pleased to report Mp has loved it. No black rot just good growth.
The top off my favourite Icaros has rotted away. Early December last year it looked healthy at approx 3 foot high. Two of my bridgesii (nameless but potent) have some black rot up on the growing tips. The top off bridgesii Hans is covered in black rot.
Hans mother plant looks fine. Kai bridgesii got through it so far with no blemishes. Both it and Eileen had problems when the plants were smaller.
The tops I've plant off Mp are starting to grow well. Biggest are a bit under 30 inches. So I figured I cut the remaining Mp I haven't tried over the next few years and give them a go.
I'll let the selected potent tops flower. If they want to. Doing closed pollination . Most desirable so far would be - Mp9 and Mp11 short spine. MP5 longer spine was pretty good too.
You haven't written in a long time, are you okay my bro?

Hi, yeah I'm fine. Just haven't been drinking any pachanoi tea. Had a few bridgesii, namely mum and dad, seedling I call bridge 1 and Eileen. I left them for 3-6 months after picking before turning them into tea.
Eileen shone the most but took about 2hrs to come on. Made up for the wait though!
I made a bridge cross between Hans and Tig. Hand pollinated so over 1000 seeds from one fruit. Last new moon I put in about 375-400 seeds.
I put them in 4 inch pots filled with two thirds sieved cactus mix. One third coarse gravelly sand. 25 or more seeds per pot. Then I put the 15 pots in a closed plastic container.
Most have germinated and on their merry way. Hans is making another flower and Tig clones have plenty of flowers. So would like to do TigxHans. To see how they grow other way around.
I've been more into mushrooms lately. Quicker trip than cactus. I'll get back to Mp one day. They are so disease free compared to peruvianus and bridgesii in my garden.

Hey thanks. Mp17 I cut maybe two and a half years ago. Dried the finished cupful out in a water bath so it didn't get beyond 100C. It's been sitting up in my cupboard waiting.....One day.
Mp18 I picked last day of winter 2021. It's sitting in a box. Originally the cut weighed a bit over 1200g. Weighed it a couple of weeks ago. Just under 900g now.
I'd like to try them this summer. When I'm by myself. That'll be after my birthday 7th Jan. I love tripping on my birthday but when other people are around I become a self righteous know it all, about all and everything. It never goes down well.
Mescaline and the summer sun can be bliss. So I'm waiting. Doing a lot of that lately.

Hey mate hello. Can you upload pictures of advanced close-ups of "matucana pachanoi" cacti? I wonder about the structure type of this cactus. I want to see the ones that have grown up, if possible.

Just in case you don't know already, Psycho0 is basically known to be like weak PC - Not very potent, but grows fast and is resilient.

If you're wondering about the general look of Pachanoi from Matucana, you can search for photos of Ogun, Legendary Matucana Pachanoi (LMP) (potentially same clone as Ogun), Lima Flower Market (LFM). It would be lovely to see his specific plants though!

Don't have a computer. It's wonderful being free from the internet. Psycho0 is a bridgesii named after a member of Shaman australis forums. I've had a hybrid of it crossed with Superpedro. Boring. Then again Tig a potent bridgesii crossed with a similar type was crappy as well.
SS03? Their potent bridgesii as pollen donor to huanucoensis was barely acceptible. Most of my bridgesii are more potent. So I'm thinking it's best to stay with pure bridgesii as they are generally potent.
If Mp ever does flower I'd be interested to try it crossed with a potent bridgesii like Tig, Hans , Kai, HB06, Bruce etc. Sofar only Hans and Tig have flowered for me. HB06 had a primordial flower that isn't there now. So maybe next year.
It only makes sense that a potent crossing partner like Mp should shine through in a bridgesii cross. Using Superpedro or Lance it's going to be weak like them.
An Icaro has a flower but I'm over them. Quality isn't special. Even my best which didn't give me any nausea doesn't compare with good bridgesii or most Mp I've tried.
