If you need beer money?  Otherwise I'd think about allocating a higher portion of your net worth to crypto.  I would be VERY surprised if we're done going up.

In order of "risk curve" positioning, from lesser risk to greater risk (where greater risk also equates to greater potential reward):
  • BTC
  • ETH
  • SOL
  • KOIN

That's where I'm at with the bulk of my exposure (actually have more SOL than ETH exposure at the moment due to SOL blowin' the roof off the mother with 3X gains in the last month or two).

DOT looks like it had the biggest jump in the last month or so

For my money, I'd be surprised if SOL didn't hit $100 in the next year.  I don't usually do targets, but that one seems fairly attainable.  Could definitely be wrong, but my money's where my mouth is.  After peeling off a couple slices in the $40's and at $58, I put it all back in play three weeks later at $58 (net loss in total exposure on account of that move, but feeling fairly convicted, you have to take what the market is willing to give you).

I actually shaved a little bit of ETH off this morning at $2225, but honestly the trend looks pretty strong and I'm not looking to liquidate too much at the moment.  The only reason I did right here, was to free up some capital for end of year activity and in part for accounting tricks to optimize taxes.

Have open orders to shave a bit more ETH at $2800 and BTC at $43.5K and $55K.  If we get to year end and I still need to harvest some sales for taxes, I'll probably just wash sale it (sell and immediately buy back), because crypto gains aren't subject to the wash sale regulations that prevent you from doing that with traditional stock assets.

All in all, the narrative remains quite strong.  Microstrategy just announced intent to issue a secondary offering of around $750million in stock, expressly for purchasing bitcoin.  So they'll continue to be a supportive buyer on the scene, in conjunction with all the asset managers that will have to accumulate bitcoin on ETF approvals, not to mention the halfing of the bitcoin mining reward that's several months off yet.

Best of all, there are still a lot of naysayers out there.  So long as there is vocal opposition to bitcoin, there is potential demand to push prices higher.  It's when the naysayers finally capitulate and say "well hmm, ok maybe you should buy some bitcoin"... that's when you want to seriously start selling, as it indicates that imminent demand from the pool of potential buyers is drying up.

If high BTC holds, its going to distribute towards promising crypto's, if you have these, profits are coming.

Lol that video, I watched it like 3 times.

BTCs ascension is shocking every time I look at those charts. When the crypto market bubbles up like this man it just makes me smile. Got quite a bit of it all still, been sitting in cold storage forever. Been hanging onto a few KOIN too. Not surprisingly but worth a mention (even though its more a stocks thread type of thing) RIOT, the mining co, dude, I am so happy to have recently jumped back on it. I figure if crypto continues to rise there arent many reasons why MARA/RIOT wont follow as well, so letting it ride

Hehe, that video of the Russian kid and his little dance at the end busts me up good! :lmao:

I attached another one, not as humorous, but pretty solid.  It's Michael Saylor of Microstrategy, a publicly traded company (MSTR) that has basically turned into a bitcoin proxy by acquiring nearly ~175,000 bitcoins so far, a lot of it with debt Saylor took out at 1% interest!  So far, he's over $2 billion in profit, but he assures everyone, he will never sell.  In fact, Microstrategy just noted that they intend to issue a secondary offering of shares to raise some $750,000,000 additional capital to do what?  Buy more bitcoin of course!

Watch the attached video clip of Saylor to find out why. :tongue2:
If you like that, you can watch an extended portion of the interview for a bit more context.

It is unlikely your crypto is covered by any insurance through a third party financial entity at this point in time.

A thread popped up in the Pub on BTC hitting $40K, I posted some thoughts to vandago, who said he wanted to invest in something but wasn't sure what, figured I'd relay them here as well.

Quote:

geokills said:
If you're looking to invest in something to "set it and forget it", that is, for long term asset allocation that is resistant to currency debasement, I don't think you're going to find something better than bitcoin, at least for now.

My money is where my mouth is, and has been for ten years.  I don't like to flaunt the amount of money I've made, suffice it to say that it has been meaningful, and by far the best investment I've made both with respect to absolute and relative returns (and I've been trading equities and options for two decades!).

Now of course, getting in here at BTC $45K is a lot different than when I entered the space at BTC ~$200 and ETH ~$11, but strictly based upon the supply metrics in conjunction with bitcoin's historical performance relative to global liquidity, the conclusion that bitcoin is among the most leveraged bets for continued currency debasement is pretty clear.  Major upcoming catalysts such as wall street's impending integration with the space (which should almost assuredly bring much more capital into the sector due to finally meeting heretofore ambiguous regulatory requirements), expectations of central banks stepping off the rate hike cycle and even potentially easing interest rates within the next year, and bitcoin's "halving" continuing to reduce the new supply of bitcoin hitting the market, and it's not too difficult to see why the cycle has pivoted higher over the past two months.

Consider finally, that gold has historically served the purpose of "store of value" and its global market cap is pegged at just under $14 trillion.  Bitcoin is a lighter weight, more secure store of value, with less inflationary characteristics (i.e. more scarcity) relative to gold, and is presently valued at < $1 trillion.  By that comparison alone, it is not a stretch to imagine bitcoin increasing in dollar denominated value by an order of magnitude, which would put one BTC ~ $450,000.

Naturally, none of this speculative analysis is guaranteed to come to fruition.  But the narrative has held for a decade now, and I'd be very disappointed if I hadn't been (and continued to) take advantage of it.

I popped it up

The idea was to chime in former traders who walked out of crypto because it was down, down, down.

it no longer is :cookiemonster:

its important to chime people in if there might be opportunity, we did that woth gold to great effect in the 2000s when i bought $600 ounces.

I vividly remember buying a roll of 10 maples for 5000 euros :hotdamn:
