Cyans?
    #28566808 - 12/03/23 01:54 PM (1 month, 24 days ago)

Well it is the first time I have seen this species but I am almost certain they are cyans. They are looking a bit worse for wear but I can just about make out the blue tint of delicious psilocin. What do you think?

Habitat:
SW England. Wood chips surrounding the base of a tree sapling (ornamental landscaping) in a town park. Just a small circle of wood chips a few metres across surrounded by grass.

Spore print colour:
Probably grey brownish

Bruising:
Blue-grey on stem, blue-green on cap

Habitat picture goes a long way as well as location (general)

I stupidly forgot to take a photo such was my excitement (having checked a LOT of wood chips recently) , and it was sketchy AF harvesting them with people around. Should have just photo'd and come back after dark but this place is not local to me. Anyway I edited the first post to try and describe the location.

I concurr, but would add that it’s hard to determine from poor lighting, but a couple of those might be past their prime.

Mostly mud, but I think I can see some cyans in there

make a tea with all of them and strain out the solids.  Try a small sample, maybe about 1/8 of the liquid with should correspond to 1/8 of the total haul.

and maybe you can preserve the rest of the tea in ice cube trays and freeze it.  I have some 2 year old frozen tea cubes I've been meaning to get back to.

There was a heavy ground frost. They looked much nicer in their frozen state before I picked and allowed them to melt. I guess the blackening and mushiness is due to pervasive ice damage rather than decomposition. They had a fresh mushrooms smell, not bad at all. Drying now.
