Wanted to drop in and say hello to all - was out and about and saw some a nice little patch:

Visited a couple good patches from prior seasons and they don’t look to be producing (looks like wood chips were cleared out and replaced in the other).

Yes, Ps. Alenii.  Nice find.  If you want to get an ID, it's better to create a separate thread.  But these are the goods!

Walnut Creek: landscaping around the parking lot of a grocery—some frost damage on the wavy caps but the stems are sturdy.

And a few feet away a more recent flush:

uggh yall are making me so excited to go home for the holidays and get some hunting in.  hopefully the weather lines up.

I just finished mulching my backyard in colorado and the mulch the houseowner provided was that black alder mulch I always see cyans and alleni's growing out of.

Anyone know if it's possible to try and get them to fruit in colorado?  I thought about getting some spores, inoculating them into soaked mulch, and then spread that around the rest of the mulch and hoping I can maybe luck into a varietal that can survive the mild winter were having here as it's much more similar to PNW weather this year.

I hope you have some luck there.  Cyans have showed up on the east coast so probably anything is possible.  Colorado does have pretty hot summers though.  I think maybe the summer may be more of a problem than the winter?  Anyway, here's to your success!

If you know any cultivation techniques you could clone a wild fruit on agar and then expand to grain and then to chips.
This is a good thread I didn’t copy any specific page you’ll have to weed through to find info you find helpful.

I found a small handful in SF yesterday another friend found good allenii and cyan patch. They are really starting to show up in the city.

Well, this season has turned out to be my best so far. Every spot I check, turned out to be better and better. Mind you, they're all irrigated pretty much, shady north sides and ivy lurkers. But man, the places I've spread stems and mulch pieces over the years are paying off where they have laid new mulch down. The facilities manager at the office park where I pick met me the other day, and just like everyone else I come across, I'm honest about why I'm there. He gives me the okay to be at the place anytime I like and if anybody has a problem to contact him. I have more pictures because I am finally slowing down enough to be able to. Good luck everyone. That's awesome!  Congrats on the early season finds!  I'm also having a pretty great season, certainly my best so far.

Today, I went back to my favorite spot (SF) and it is going off!  Lots of Allenii and Cyan pins.  Too early to pick most of it, but I still made off pretty good.  I'm almost even this year between alenii and cyanescens and that's new to me.  Up til now, I've usually only found cyans in bulk.

cyanescens pinning in San Francisco:

The Alenii patches I found were pretty damn extensive.  I got so excited I forgot to take pics.  I was short on time and if I had looked more I'm certain more would have been found.  Gonna be a major haul next week and if they're still there I'll take a bunch of pics then.

It is getting good out there!!!  Damn I love this hobby.

It’s been an unusual season for me too — a decent amount of actives out there but almost no other species, until today.

All kinds of fruits are popping up in my foraging grounds with the rain and cooler temps:

My first Bolete!

And this:

Anyone on this thread ever try to decarb Amanita by dehydrating it and adding it to a bottle of kombucha?

out and about in SF and the south Bay today.  Lots of small fruits out there- so many pins!  Hope they can make it with this dry spell upon us.
