I recently lost family at thanksgiving dinner because we’re atheist and the rest of my family are superstitious, Christian specifically. I can’t relate to or understand any kind of superstition, but I don’t care what others believe or try to convince them of my beliefs. It’s none of my business. I just wish more superstitious people had that same live and let live attitude.

Ive had spiritual experiences on mushrooms, dissociatives and various tryptamines.  Ive had a near death spiritual experience that changed my entire world view but I say nothing when my atheist friends discuss their beliefs because its of no consequence to me.  Sorry Asante I respect you very much but Im trying to understand how this isnt just being judgemental.  You cant just bully people into embracing "spiritualism".

With all due respect, and it's a lot, you misunderstand what i'm saying.

The Shroomery is too averse from the notion of a living God, to be the primary Embassy for Entheogenic Mushrooms in the world.

Either we on the member level, actively embrace the supernatural/spiritual side that is inherent to Entheogens for many people, or we will lose our relevance as the world's premier mushroom site.

"magic mushrooms demystified" has devolved to an aversion to the mystique of the spiritual component of Entheogenic Mushrooms.

We will fail if we dpn't heal that on the member level.
The wound cuts deeper on the staff level.

you're saying that despite your spiritual experiences, you grace people of another persuasion with the right to be them on their terms and let them be.

This is mature.

I'm saying that the Shroomery is inhospitable to people who have profound spiritual and/or supernatural experiences. You get opposed by the color blind for experiencing in color.

That is not the respect you offer.

The shroomery narrative is that these substances skew your perception and anything more is delusion or mental illness.

That is not suitable for the primary spot for entheogenic mushrooms because entheogenesis itself is fought as it occurs in others.

We should embrace that people come in with very complex experiences, not desecrate them with nihilist cynicism without hearing it out.

Spirit is fought off here.

Do you remember the propoganda on drugs when we were kids.
The video of someone smoking weed and jumping out of the window to their death.
I was terrified of drugs.
I remember thinking if you use just one time you can die. Because it was the Nancy Reagan era, just say no. Everything was fear based.
One reason I fully support harm reduction so passionately.

Yep, and at the same time people were dropping dead of AIDS left and right because Reagan didn’t like gay people and didn’t care to spread accurate information or do anything about it.

YES!!!!!
When I look back at how we treated the AIDS epidemic.... what a shame. So many people lost that did not have to die.
Same with drugs. I feel every overdose is preventable.

I really wish we had learned our lesson about hiring pop icons or actors. Based off of how poorly he performed as a president. He literally ignored the aids epidemic, because he thought it was only going to kill gay people. To this day, it is killing people because of that man’s hubris & hate. Yet here we have half the country trying to reelect Donald Trump.
Because he did such a great job last time, right?

Statistically, more straight people have hiv than gays.

The whole point of my comment is that now it is a global issue. It didn’t used to be. That’s the hubris. That he thought it would only affect the gay community.

I’d be willing to bet that a lot more gay men have HIV than straight men, per capita. In the US at least.

Any research into the aids problem in America will show you it was propagated by the gay scene. That’s not a criticism of them; how could they know? But the sex scene in gay America at the time was extremely loose with their safety protocol. There’s a reason aids is associated with gay people, and it isn’t homophobia.

Imagine how many lives would of been saved if they were more assertive in education, treatment and prevention.
A lot of people passed away. And it is still stigmatized as a gay man sexual disease.

Yeah 70% of cases being DEFINITELY from male/male sex is why it’s stigmatized that way. I feel like that’s not stigma, just statical data. And that’s just people who admitted it. The number is definitely higher, unfortunately, especially since the black community makes up a whopping 40% of cases, an ethnic group wherein homophobia is deeply ingrained.

AIDS is terrible. We should have basically no new cases at this point. It’s less an education issue now and I’d think a testing accessibility issue. Maybe. I’d need to look more into new cases than just that paper. Hopefully we will have a cure for it soon.

I am surprised how long people live and live a happy healthy life.
Which makes it even sadder for the people that passed away.

It does, but that is the unfortunate human cost of progress. Many of them would be happy to know their cases at least helped us understand and treat the issue for those who came after

There is a cure. It cost so much money that almost no one has access to it. Magic Johnson’s never developed aids.
I think with gene editing technology. We will have a way better and more affordable cure coming soon though.

Unpopular Opinion
I think there is a genocide happening on homeless people.
Where are they?
I have read reports of family members saying they used to speak to their houseless family members daily. And were told they were being relocated and have not heard back from them in a long time.
Where are they?
