Yeah I did a shit job on my psuedocasing and left some exposed cow/horse poo and it contamed. The spot was about the size of a quarter and no mushrooms grew in that corner on the first flush. The natalensis mycelium then proceeded to kill it and start the second flush there just to say fuck you. You can see the spot that is tiny and dead just to the left of the polyfil. Natalensis myc doesn't play!

Growing my first 2 tubs! One has pins.

The other one showed some tiny patches of green. Normally I'd toss, but since they looked quarantined, I just removed and I am waiting to see if Nats are truly as voracious. Is this dumb?

I see a lot of people who grow nats starve them of fae. The difference might be small with cubensis but if you try it with natalensis you will have oodles of noodles. LET THEM BREATHE!!

People get so bent out of shape with trich saying their always gonna get it now that they had a tub sporulating shit everywhere in their grow space. It’s bullshit. The difference is good vs bad spawn, good vs bad sterile technique, good vs bad sub prep. It has nothing to do with the spore load in your work space.

The best way to do this is with a proper casing layer or else the sub will lose too much moisture via evaporation. One that you can continue to spray without cultivating bacteria. Otherwise take your spaghetti fruits for less maintenance. Theres always a trade off in this hobby and cutting corners doesn’t exist, it’s more like shuffling priorities.

The best way to do this is make your substrate depth around 4" and give it a proper psuedocasing. I never mist my tubs. I don't even open them after spawn until I harvest my first flush. I also leave my holes lose with polyfil and run a fan. It's way easier to dial in a tub than try to adjust a lid all the time.

I thought these were kind of neat, even if they suck in terms of yield.

This was also the slowest of the 4 cultures I tested.  I don't know if there's a connection there.

First grow(s) a few months ago. And first post on Shroomery! Started with a few species but Nats have blown everything out of the water. Both in cultures and bulk substrate. So far they're the only ones I even have fruiting. The big tub pinned 9 days after S2B.

How do you guys feel about the nats experience vs cubes?

We have only tried them a couple of times here. My wife found both her experiences to be kind of unpleasant... Not mentally, but because of weird feelings on her skin, and restlessness. I didn't experience anything like that though. Very strange.
