As previously stated. The Print I have came from Rosco. The only genetics I had prior to receiving this print from Rosco were Cubes, Nats and some gourmet so don't see any way these could be something else.
So Don't know what to tell anyone that think's they not Semps. You would have to refer to Rosco as to whether there could have been a mixup in prints. Also all 6 shoeboxes came from the exact same spore print, although the nice 1 came from 1 spore plate and the other 5 came from a different spore plate. The 6 jars pictured are from the spore plate that the nice ones came from.
Personally I think it's as much environmental as genetic. I am running my tent differently than everyone else. (I use a humidity controller and only exhaust 2 minutes every 20) If you look at the 4th picture, they are from the same spore plate as the 2 tubs with flat caps but have been in the tent since pinning. The 2 with flat caps spent 2 weeks in a water tub before moving to the tent.
Here they are today. 2 new tubs have some chunky ones starting. Also 6 Jars from the culture that created the bell shaped caps almost ready to spawn.

They are definitely subtropicalis, not zaps. I sent him the spores. They are from Melgo via The Tao, so not the xico. I’ve not had those bell shaped caps, but most of my grows resemble the larger caps he’s got in his second tub. I’m thinking more and more that the growing conditions play a huge role in what these look like. I may just run a bunch of trays in my tent and change up conditions each run to see how different they can get.

the_chosen_one said: So the secret to storing these prints is to leave it in a syringe making jar and forget about it in the basement for 15 years and a few days shy of 3 months. Melgo will be pleased to hear we have ignition of the original genetics. About 96% sure anyways. I finished making a syringe really not expecting anything. Put that to a PF jar and 4 days later I'm seeing growth in several spots. Looks really good and I'm pretty sure it's not a mold. So I just checked the rest of the solution and it has a few spore clumps germinating as well. Making more syringes now lol. It's 4 prints so there's plenty.
Forget about for 15 years I am very pleased indeed What do you mean by a "a syringe making jar"? Not an LC then? Just spores in water?
Checking the mailbox everyday atm
Really looking forward to your results!

Yeah, I had to look into them. Just because of the vast difference. Think that Alan rockefella dude mentioned as well that they are in fact xico region subtrops (the ones he had but look similar yo your ones) but look very much like zapotecorum. I presume he would have checked them out genetically. Learn something new every day. Amazing looking shrooms

I was just thinking they were a mix up but obviously not. You are probably right, could be a different environmental phenotype. There's probably more out there waiting to be discovered

Yeah I hadn't added the water yet. I kind of remember doing it as a backup lol.
I use a metal riser to take the prints in a jar. The RTV is on both sides of the lid and the gasket is down. A needle with a filter provides a vent when filling and extracting water. And a thin sharpened paper clip makes a scraper tool. Always fun to handle when hot lol. A little practice makes perfect syringes even in the kitchen.
I can see the spots without the magnifier now. Some looks pretty good while some is meh. Hoping pretty good out runs meh lol. It's barely into day 5 from noc and I'm still nervous.
It's ready. Just need to go to town. Been off the last week and the holiday snuck up on me.

Fucking good grief these grows just keep getting more amazing...
Meanwhile the saga of my bottle grows continues... After ~3 months of no fruiting, I managed to drop and break both and turned the remnants into a shoebox which no a puts me at 4 months without fruiting save for 3 hyphal knots I finally saw yesterday Have a half dozen qts ready though so praying I have better luck with these cultures

Throw the spawn in a box, mix them with straight coir, cover your mix with a small coir casing and then a thin layer of verm to cover that. I don't give these any FAE or actually spray/mist them...and they seem to like it. Just a suggestion to try 😉

Oh I've grown these before. Just happens that when I started again I got stuck with the "green weenie" variety Terrified of these things when they do finally fruit. The first batches I grew were the "take 1g and-achieve level 5" variety I like that size box btw. My wife stole all mine...
