ID Request ...
    #2855665 - 07/04/04 07:27 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hello all.
Ive found a few mushrooms growing in clusters from soil. It is very close to a cut down stump of a tree (I dont know which tree).
The weather is hot (like 28-32degC by day and 20-24degC by night).
The soil is watered via sprinklers.
These mushrooms pop up very often on that location during the last month or so. The cap has striate margins, color is greyish-brown. Small in size around 3-6cm long and from 2-4cm wide.
Gills apear to be black. No annulus ring. there seems to be no bluing reaction or a very light one (which could be mistaken cause the spores might have fallen on the stem and created a bluish/blackish tone), though it only has passed a few hours since the picking. Spore print is in progress. Stem is hollow. when they dry up it looks like the stem cannot hold the weight of the cap, and they break or collapse or will break/collapse upon easy agitation.
My guess is that they are psathyrella, though I might be mistaken.

They do not look like any specific coprinus I've seen, but if dried in time, coprinus caps don't turn into the black goo.  Doesn't look like an active, but what do I know? Wait for a positive ID from one of the elders here.. peace

Mitchnast is correct - those are Coprinus. A large number of Coprinus species do not deliquesce (turn inky).

Incidentally, Mitchnast *is* on the list of recognized identifiers here.

Happy mushrooming!

Im ont eating those, and thank you al for you ID!
Im after something so "small" casue there are no documented reports of psilocybian mushrooms where I live, only anectodal unconfirmed reports. So any mushroom that looks like itmight be active, im picking and checking, though no luck yet.
