In wood chip landscaping. Mild mushroom odor and flavor. Cap extremely viscid!
Spores in KOH from a spore print measure (6.9) 7.2 - 8 (9) × (3.8) 4.1 - 4.7 (4.8) x (3.6) 3.9 - 4.4 (4.5) µm.
This is likely the undescribed species currently going under the provisional name Stropharia 'cyanea PNW01'.

Great pictures of a beautiful species. You obviously caught them at the right moment. I assume these also lose the blue tones gradually in maturity?

Yes, you have to be at the right place at just the right time.

Lucky! These are on my list of things I'd love to see in the wild...
-------------------- Disclaimer - I'm just a hobbyist and cannot absolutely guarantee any ID offered. I'm most familiar with the species found in the Pacific Northwest - those found in other parts of the world may vary considerably, so always do your own research to find out what grows in your area and what lookalikes you need to be aware of. Understand that many mushroom species cannot be 100% reliably identified by photographs alone, even by an expert, so it may not be possible to go beyond suggesting a probable genus.

Awesome as always Alan 👌👍
I stumbled across someone on Reddit a while back who claimed to eat Stropharia aeruginosa for its psychoactive effects… I called them out on it but they were adamant that these mushrooms made them feel “dizzy” and they claimed them to likely be psychedelic in higher doses.
I still don’t believe it for one second, but I thought I’d check with you guys whether or not I’m right in being very skeptical of this?

They definitely don't have psilocybin, but there's a chance that they make him feel dizzy. Might be placebo or maybe not. Pretty sure they wouldn't make me feel dizzy if I ate them.

Haha, placebo for sure! I've tried them. Cooked, as I found them in an old book where it said it was edible. Didn't get dizzy. Didn't get sick either like some people apparently get. What kind of toxins, if any, does it contain?

Probably none, but testing for toxins is difficult because no one knows the molecular structure of all of them.

Haha! Yeah just don’t use mushrooms with known toxins… that’s where the lady in Victoria, Australia came unstuck. (This is obviously a sick joke please don’t hate me).

Wow that's really beautiful!
I'm not far from there in Mason County. We have an abundance of Stropharia ambigua sporulating right now. Makes me wonder if everything I'm seeing is ambigua now lol. I'll have to pay closer attention.
Thanks Alan
