MauweeWauwee, in what type of environment are you searching? Is it some specific grass? I don't want to loose hope for this year...

So in my opinion grass is most important thing but that does not guarantee you will find something. I would advise you to check all the pictures in this thread and do not look at libs but whats around them. Finding them is not an easy task when you are starting, spent around 35h+ around my city without finding single lib but when I went to North Eastern part found them in about 4 hours in 2 different fields so yeah...

I have had no luck for weeks now, not a sign anything has grown at all. Last week snow came down and it finally was cold for a bit, but the ground is absolutely full of water and perhaps the there's some drowning happening in the places that treated me well last year.
Few weeks ago when I looked at the place, I saw someone else snoop around, without any luck either. I said "hi" to them, which I hope didn't spook them too much lol
I will go again tomorrow, since there will be more snow and rain the day after, maaaaybe there will be something finally coming out the ground, it would be a shame to stay empty handed this year...

I had a bad back pain the last months and haven't spent any time hunting. I take short walks close to my home, walking past a soccer field there's a patch of nice thick grass with moss and a month back I though to myself that this would be the only spot I could be able to find any libs this year. And I thought this with great irony since I haven't seen any growing there ever and what are the chances? Close to zero... Well... The mushroom gods seems to have been active.
Today when I walked past this place (on the asphalt in the background) I again remembered that I should let my eyes go over the grass, so I raised my head and two seconds later I spotted a group of mushrooms. And it was a nice family of liberty caps.
I also found 11 more close by.

Wow, that's a nice find, KK! Dry as the back of my hand here where I live, and some really frosty nights too.

Found two populations, don't know whether the lighter one is the lib (darker is not, right?) Lighter one:

Darker ones:

Both:

Maybe somebody more experienced can comment on what are the species? Thanks a lot!

None of them are liberty caps, unfortunately.
Looks like possibly Conocybe and Mycena species.

Yes, or how they found me this time. Like precognition or something, the mushrooms call out to us. Here! Look, I'm right here! Look to your left... now!
We had a couple of nights with frost last month also light snow that melted against the grass once, but since then +5-7C and lots of rain, every day in November I would say... Many people on the west coast have reported a good flush this week. It has been pretty bad until now. I can't believe your part of Norway lacks rain. If recall correct it's the most rainy town in Norway or something?
I'm thinking all the ordinary good places could be delivering a lot right now, so if anyone are in the area west Sweden/north Denmark/south Norway, go and have a look again it's not too late!

I'm in North Skåne and haven't had much luck. Have maybe got 2g of dried libs since I started looking in September.
But your post gives me hope! I'll keep looking!

Hi. I’d say dont loose hope yet. This year lithuania has been very rewarding for me. It does take some exploring and time to find a good field.. took me a while to find a good spot, but once I found one, a few more followed.
The spots I visit are cow pastures with decaying tufts of grass.(some pics from last year).. The weather is still ok around Klaipeda region, im finding decent amounts.. not finding much when the night temperatures drop below zero tho. Keep searching they’re out there.

Lukenzas, amazing results! They for sure are growing, but I find it hard to find these special weeds as in your pictures....That's the main problem. Maybe you have any hints on how to find these grasses?
Thanks!

It's not about weeds. It's about grass and moss. Exactly what Anglerfish wrote earlier in this thread:
Quote:
But almost every time I find them, Deschampsia caespitosa is present, as is the starry moss Campylium stellatum. I suspect a relationship with either or both.
Deschampsia caespitosa is the most often associated grass species, it's my conclusion from 20 years of hunting. Not that all other grass are bad, there are a few more good species. At a certain point you can easily judge from just looking at the grass if a place have potential to be good or not. I look for species of grass and high percentage of moss.
But concerning the moss, I believe it's actually Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus. Apart from it always being present, I have seen the base/mycelium being attached to the moss, and the moss was more yellow/dead at this spot, not green.
