Hey I got a small yield in this monotub of PE.
How can I get an even pin set? Next tub I will try pasty whyte dial monotub but what else can I do?
This is first flush so I believe next flush will be better if I maintain a good misting on surface.
All tips welcome! Thank you

Yeah, it looks pretty dry in there. Work on maintaining those surface conditions. It could also be bad genetic luck. You can mist it now if it needs it without hurting anything.

Even pinsets are a combination of clean spawn, good surface conditions, and good genetics.
Your surface doesn’t look fully colonized. When I see tubs that fruit before full colonization it usually is caused by contamination, sometimes just bad conditions, but usually contamination.
Your surface looks quite dry, and it appears you have some aborts. Either your tub is allowing too much FAE, or your sub was not hydrated properly/not deep enough to provide enough water to keep up the humidity.
Genetics will require you to select and clone the characteristics you are looking for. To get canopies I like to clone from fruits that come up as a cluster, many pins together at the same time. This may carry over when you grow out the clone.

I can mist whilst there is pins? It was very wet but I think I just let too much fae in and sucked it dry. I’ll do the EZ dials before my 2nd flush

Hmm so I had a half inch casing layer and this sub was left for 3 weeks to colonise… so feel like it’s fully colonised under the casing.. next time I’ll just put into fruiting stage from the minute I mix spawn n sub
Also my sub was soaking at one point so I think too much fae dried it up. I’ll ez dial for flush 2
Tbh this is also my first grow, I’m far away from cloning.. seems technical and too much room for error from my part. For now I’m buying LC syringes

I think fruiting at spawn with EZ Dial will definitely help the conditions.
You really should be testing any LC you didn't make on agar to make sure it is 100% clean as well. As roscoe mentioned, dirty spawn can cause early fruiting and uncolonized patches.
If you want to chase full pinsets, clean clone cultures and a high spawn to sub ratio will help you get there. Agar is really easy, it is just 2 ingredients and water.

Okay thank you, let me look into agar! Yep I remember on my other post you said 1:1 - 1:6 spawn to coir ratio… so will do that to my melmac monster spawn. Maybe go for a nice 1:4.

So because you said all tips welcome: after picking the fruits (and wait till they are fully grown (though not giving spores yet)): dunk it in water for some hours for the next flush.
like others said: looks pretty dry (I conclude that based on the contracted substrate).
Oh and somewhere was asked whether you can mist when there are pins: I think you can. But try to miss the little ones a bit more than the bigger ones. I do use a very fine mister btw.
In the situation of your photo I'd definitely mist. I'd even pour water in the tub and let it float for an hour or 2, and afterwards poor the water away.

Apologies, meant to write a higher spawn to sub ratio. Something like 1:1-1:3 would be the range you would shoot for. Generally that will make your first flush pinset larger, at the expense of fewer overall flushes.
Really though a clean (preferably cloned) culture and decent consistent conditions will get you very far.
Good luck.

clone clusters.
use ez dial tubs.
make sure you read the hitchikers guide and pay special attention to the section about surface conditions

Thank you guys for all the advice. You are the best
I will sit down with a notepad and read that hitch hiker guide correctly. Will EZ this tub and soak the sub for my second flush… I believe she’ll do better.
I’ll also buy 16L tubs instead of my 60L tubs… smaller tubs = less likely to kill all of them
Unfortunately I followed super old tek advice for my tub.. used YouTube before I found this forum
