I put enough lemon juice on powdered mushrooms to wet them, then pour boiling water over and steep for 10ish minutes. It seems like it's generally pretty adaptable, the exact water temperature shouldn't matter much and the steep time doesn't have to be exact either. You won't overcook unless you're trying to.

You can't overcook it really. You could boil for 30 mins if you wanted. Try simmering for 10 and you'll get strong tea
Cheers

I throw everything I can find in my teas. It cures what ails you. I like garlic and onion’s. Red pepper and honey. I don’t boil tho/ I simmer it down for 30 or so. You can add whatever you can think of.

Well, you can actually mess it up quite easily. Keep in mind, it is tea so steeping is preferred to boiling. Anyone can make tea that works, its just that unless you have an unlimited supply of psychoactive mush you'd probably want to get the most out of your efforts. Additionally, I personally don't care for that feeling of "almost there, but not quite" that could result from an improperly prepared pot of sacred tea. This is how I do it, and is by no means the best or only way; it just works great:
-boil 2 cups of water (adjust if necessary for larger batches) -remove from heat -add dried mush (whole things, not chopped or powdered) & any tea bags/leaves that you desire for flavor -steep for ten minutes -strain -add honey, sugar, etc. & get to sippin'
Note: Although not necessarily a telling factor in terms of potency, your tea may turn blue, or even black if you used enough good mush. That's always been okay with me.

Not for any reason other than personal preference though, nothing to do with preserving actives. Water cannot get hot enough to damage psilocybin.
I simmer my shrooms for 10 minutes, strain and squeeze out the mush then make tea or even coffee out of the remaining liquid. I've even added vinegar or lemon juice, let it cool a little and drank it straight up. I've added ginger and rooibos and stuff as well before too when I've felt like something more tasty.
There's really not much to it. The only way you can ruin them with water is if you boil the pan dry.

You speak the truth, my friend. For anyone still interested in tea, there's a far superior method of preparation. Cold water extraction. There's a 3-4 minute youtube video titled "How To Make Mushroom Tea The Right Way: A Better Lemon Tek". It'll be right at the top if you search "lemon tek". Far superior tea tek to any I've brewed over the past few decades. It'll be worth your time to try it, that's a fact. Cheers!

You can't overcook it or ruin it. Boiling won't harm any of the active alkaloids. In fact, boiling is better than steeping due to the fact that it kills any potential bacteria present in the fruit bodies. I mean, c'mon, they brew Ayahuasca for 12 plus hours - roaring boil. Tryptamines are fine. Haha
No need for acidifying with lemon juice, citrus, or vinegar either but doesn't hurt. Alkaloids are water soluble regardless. Some are allergic to citrus and also makes it taste different.
I strain all the material out and allow it to cool or add an ice cube. Hardly any residual taste - take it like a shot of liquor if you wish or sip.
Either works though so don't stress it.

Do you mind sharing why you say its "superior" to more traditional tea methods? Thanks
