So Im currently in a manufacturing-lab job that just did a ton of lay-offs on my fellow co-workers. Im afraid I could be next. Ive always worked in Manufacturing jobs in the past but Im thinking of maybe getting into Entry-Level Fast Food job as a back-up job choice. There always seems to be work available in the Food Service industry.

Would a more diverse Resumé look better to future employers of both Manufacturing and Food Service positions if i had some Fast Food experience? Or it better to just focus on one area of employement?

If you're considering fast food jobs, you might as well go into bartending.  It's service-based just like McDonald's except that you get really good tips, and they tend to be in cash.

Personally, I would tailor my resume depending on the job I am applying for.  As in, if I am applying for a manufacturing job, I would omit the fast food experience, and vice versa.  A disclaimer: I don't have any real experience as a hiring manager.  But I just think it would be very strange to see very different kinds of work experiences in one resume.

Entry Food service? Like McDonalds?

A couple different ways to approach it, if you combine the skills and tie them together. Following set procedures, ensuring quality, achieving consistency are things very applicable to both manufacturing and fast food service. That looks good on a resume.

It's still a real mixed economy out there, still lots of places that are busy and hiring. Highly dependent on your area, but keep an open mind on applications.

Or on a bigger picture figuring out what you really want to do with your career? Is career important to you? what goals have you set? where do you want to be in 5 years kind of stuff. What are the opportunities in your area for you? What sort of things could you see your self doing?

It's always a bad idea to be running away from things in life, what do you want to run towards?

I was thinking more Taco Bell, i dobt like MickyDs very much.

Very important questions to ponder. I dont have a clear answer yet. I guess im hoping to my Resumé more diverse just in case i need to switch jobs. I am considering going back to school for a better vocational direction. Not excited about more student loan debt but it maybe worth it in the long run....
