Welcome to learning how to plan a routine. * 1
    #28524196 - 10/31/23 02:09 AM (2 months, 27 days ago)

Since graduating from university six years ago, I've lived independently without a personal routine or extracurricular responsibilities, apart from a romantic relationship. Only recently did I embrace my first extracurricular commitment, yet I still lack a structured day-to-day routine or calendar. I've been navigating life without a concrete plan, immersing myself in various interests and skills without utilising a calendar.

The absence of a calendar in my life has led me to ponder: is it my lack of knowledge in using one, or have I not recognised its utility?

Maybe this is my hope of trying to make one and I wanted to share it here.

This marks my exploration into this question, and so I introduce "Monetary-Hour Units," a concept that might just hold the key to understanding the balance between structured planning and the spontaneity of life. Embark on this journey of effective time management with me.

Introducing Monetary-Hour Units

MHUs

Introduction to Monetary-Hour Units (MHUs): A Holistic Approach to Productivity and Well-being

In the fast-paced modern world, managing time, resources, and personal well-being can often feel like an overwhelming challenge. To address this complexity, the concept of Monetary-Hour Units (MHUs) emerges as a powerful and comprehensive framework. MHUs blend the precision of quantitative analysis with the depth of qualitative understanding, providing individuals with a structured approach to assess the economic worth of their tasks and activities.

Understanding MHUs: The Core Concept

At its core, MHUs represent a dual-layered model that quantifies tasks by amalgamating time and monetary value. This integration forms the foundation of MHUs, encapsulated in a simple equation: MHU = T (Time in minutes) + M (Monetary investment). Here, time denotes the duration spent on a specific task, while monetary investment signifies the financial resources allocated to accomplish the task. The result is a single numeric value, MHU, which comprehensively quantifies the task's economic worth.

The Philosophy Behind MHUs: Integrating Quantitative and Qualitative Aspects

The philosophy underpinning MHUs lies in the harmonious integration of quantitative precision and qualitative depth. Recognising that tasks possess both measurable aspects and subjective dimensions, such as emotional fulfilment and personal growth, MHUs act as a bridge between these elements. The model acknowledges the inherent complexity of human experiences, effectively blending objective measurements with the richness of subjective feelings.

Calculating MHUs: Empowering Individuals with Informed Decision-Making

Mastering the calculation of MHUs empowers individuals to assess the economic impact of their tasks accurately. By comprehending the dual-layered nature of MHUs, individuals can delve deeper into the qualitative considerations. This process, known as qualitative grafting, involves integrating subjective elements like emotional fulfilment and well-being into MHUs. It transforms mere numbers into holistic representations of tasks, bridging the gap between rational calculations and emotional responses.

Practical Applications: Optimising Daily Routines for Enhanced Well-being

MHUs find practical applications in the management of daily routines. By calculating MHUs for various tasks, individuals gain insights into the comprehensive value of their activities. This knowledge enables informed decisions about resource allocation, empowering individuals to align their actions with their values and goals. Whether it's prioritising tasks based on comprehensive value, balancing time and money investments, or fostering emotional fulfilment, MHUs serve as a guiding compass for individuals seeking a balanced and fulfilling approach to daily life.

Embracing MHUs: A Personal Choice for Positive Self-Well-being

It's important to note that MHUs operate as a model, offering a framework for individuals to enhance their productivity and overall well-being. The decision to embrace MHUs rests entirely with the individual. By understanding the philosophy, calculating MHUs, and applying them to daily routines, individuals can embark on a transformative journey toward optimal decision-making, prioritising tasks, and nurturing positive self-well-being.

In summary, Monetary-Hour Units (MHUs) stand as a unique blend of quantitative precision and qualitative depth, offering a structured yet nuanced approach to evaluating tasks. By integrating objective measurements with subjective experiences, MHUs empower individuals to make conscious choices, fostering a balanced, fulfilling, and positively impactful daily life.

All questions or queries welcome.

You tackle it one problem at a time until you figure it out, it can be kind of daunting at first, but problem solving is a skill like anything else, and the best way to improve a skill is through practice.

This is not a revolutionary concept, a beacon guiding individuals towards effective practices or the almost salesmen like appearance of this article.

I just want the value of understanding there is a model to reflect this article, a simple and precice yet delicate and intricate representation of the dual layered MHU calculations model, that reflects the essence of what it truly is.

A simple tool available to help individuals craft daily routines to add to a calender. The crux of the MHU model and philosophy is that it assists the individual in making informed choices of their own.

The model isn't the remarkable part of the concept, the remarkable part of the concept is that you, the individual are what makes it work.

It would never work or be applicable without a human mind to guide it and steer its practicality and applicability.

The user makes this program work. Not the other way around. The program is designed to help you evaluate the economic worth and benefit to your overall daily productivity.

It's a guide to help you calculate the productivity of day to day tasks.

It's helpful to me because I don't plan things well if at all for my day to day tasks.

I have productivity at work, but in the past I've had less of it in my personal time, and I've taken the time for years to try and come up with a solution to planning my days, and I've had the most wonderful expriences, adventures and memories I could ever wish for. I've explored whole nations and seen what life has to offer over a meriad of different environments. I've been so happy so many times. I really have.

I didn't really know why I planned some of my work tasks with great priority, over others to a degree of losing productivity in my personal life. And eventually I didn't really know why I planned some of my tasks with priority of productivity in my personal life either.

I had productivity at work, and some with hobbies in my personal life, but I still felt I needed more routine in my life, because a lot of my adventures were sporadic chosen week for week.

I am utilising MHU calculations in considering the actions I take in my life, and it's a simple tool I sometimes choose to use if I'm struggling to make a firm decision on committing myself to something like riding a bike to the store for groceries to make lunch.

It was a 5 minute bike ride there, and would cost around $20 for vegetables and snacks, and $30 for the roast. With a 5 minute ride back, 10 minutes of oven prep, and 1 hour of roasting.

Overall it was about an hour and twenty minutes to make a lunch of roast pork and potatoes. It would cost about $50, and maybe 10 minutes of bike riding overall.

So that's $50, and 80 minutes to complete a task of making lunch.

Which as a numerical measurement is calculated to be 130 MHUs

You now have a measurement for investment in task completion, and can reference various MHU calculations within a framework to gather insight into the requirements and ease of actually investing yourself to complete a task.

Just do it, it's not making a decision, it's calculating a numeric value to have as a reference point when making decisions about real world tasks you'd like to complete.

For me the benefit is great, I love my pork roasts like I love a Bueno bar for desert. They taste great, and I'm glad I invested my time, money and effort into rewarding myself like that.

Understanding MHUs: A Personal Approach to Productivity

In the realm of daily tasks and personal routines, simplicity often conceals depth. Monetary-Hour Units (MHUs), far from being a revolutionary concept, stand as a straightforward yet intricate tool designed to assist individuals in their decision-making processes. At its core, MHUs offer a way to evaluate the economic worth and benefit of day-to-day tasks, providing a structured approach to planning that anyone can utilise.

MHUs: Your Personal Guide

MHUs are not a magic solution, nor are they a beacon guiding individuals toward a predetermined path of effectiveness. Instead, they serve as a guide, a numeric reflection of the investment required for task completion. The uniqueness of MHUs lies in their adaptability; they mould themselves according to your needs and preferences.

The Human Element: Your Role in MHUs

Crucially, MHUs recognise that you, the individual, are the driving force behind their applicability. Your mind, your choices, and your aspirations give life to this model. MHUs do not dictate; they assist. Your decisions breathe meaning into the numerical calculations, transforming them into practical insights.

A Personal Journey with MHUs

Consider a simple task: preparing a roast lunch. The investment involves time, money, and effort. By calculating the task's MHUs (130 in this case), you gain a reference point. MHUs do not decide for you; they equip you with information. The decision to invest your time and resources becomes informed and intentional, allowing you to savour the rewards of your efforts.

In essence, MHUs are not about making decisions; they're about providing you with a numerical perspective. They empower you to assess tasks, allocate resources, and make choices that align with your desires. It's not just a tool; it's a partner, respecting your autonomy and offering valuable insights. So, embrace the simplicity of MHUs, and let them be your personal companion in the journey toward mindful and intentional living.

Regarding "informed choices" and "conscious choices"

I'm always amazed at how many huge decisions I've made in my life with little or no contemplation or introspection.

Regarding planning tasks and routines

Sometimes planning the next hour or two is more effective than trying to plan the entire day or week.  It seems to make my priorities more clear - what do I want to do during the next 60 minutes.  If it's reading a book or taking a nap, that's fine. It can help me to focus and not be overwhelmed.  Creating a grand itinerary can be daunting.

I only plan tasks or projects that involve other people, or deadlines or both, otherwise, on my own, I am in forage mode, or grazing mode, or on holiday, or doing some practice.

Like planning but with each phase or sub step / or activity getting a fair timeslot, and sequenced in a realistic order.

My tendency has been to make a list of things that need to be done and things that want to be done.

I have efficiency issues. Over time I become more efficient but this could also be said, it takes me a long time to be as efficient as possible.

My routines support me but they can also hold me back. My thoughts support me but they can also hold me back.

Brings to mind bias. My habits can be biased if I think they're the best. Better to think perhaps some improvement can be made so that I might exercise some creative thinking and improve.
