Are those regular Bay Area allenii or Australian genetics? They got that neat looking umbo.
Cool to see things get going down there!
I don’t know. I made a post last year specifically about this mutant colony I had found and suspected to be azures. There we’re differing opinions on them last year. Many said azures, another said subs, and Alan said mutated cyans. I’m still up in the air. I think the area I hunt was started by a fellow shroomery member, and it seems to have at least 2, if not 3, distinct Psilocybes flourishing there. Also, it’s not true Bay Area. I hunt hills of the Sac Valley a few hours away. aid they were mutant cyans that I had found last year. They do have a very peculiar look to them. Definitely not like the allenii or even cyan to me.

I don’t mind the taste. Not award winning, but I’ve tasted far grosser shit from natural food stores.

Found a single allenii growing out of the base of my hydrangeas.

For me, the biggest flushes the last previous three years I e been hunting all came mid December to mid January. Seems to be the sweet spot. At least in the valley.

Those allenii can take over of conditions are right. Two years ago, I found over 3.5 lbs dried of P. allenii during the season.

Seems like it might be a decent year. I saw a patch that didn’t produce many cyans last year, and as of this morning, it’s teeming with life and has dozens of pins pushing up. 🙏

Greenapple said: I haven't been having luck in central SF this year despite all these great pics! None of the spots (over multiple parks) where Ive previously found them have had any although I find disturbed mycelium, so it seems others are finding them first. Hopefully I can find some although Ive never been the lucky one to find a huge patch, so here's hoping for a Christmas miracle
Still plenty of time. A lot of patches haven’t even flushed yet. A flush is underway at the moment though. If we get some more rain in the next week or so, it should pop off. Ca is good until at least mid January for actives.

Either the spots are depleted or have totally different landscaping... Good to see some people are finding them though. Gives me hope . Anyone on here with a location/spot that still produces years later?
I bet they’re still around, even if the patches you found got burned out. Try searching other areas around the areas you used to hunt. Especially in areas of high foot traffic these things get spread around quite a lot. Conditions aren’t great at the moment. We got enough rain to get things going, but not enough to get explosive growth. Hopefully we can get some good rain over the next couple weeks and we can get a good January haul going.

Yeah, you guys get more fog over there in the bay than we do in the valley. Conditions could be better over there right now.
